So what happened last night in the Pens-Lightning game? Oh ya - exactly what I said would! Staal got matched up against the scoring line of Tampa Bay and shut them down. Whatever was left, Fleury, this year's most experiened starting playoff goaltender, shut the door on. The Pens D outshined the Lightning D from the very first shift when Brooks Orpik absolutely freight trained Stamkos into the corner boards.



Game was officiated poorly though, Lightning missed 2 high sticking power plays they should've had and a couple trips on the Penguins by TB were missed. Honestly though, Ryan Malone was the Lightning's best player. Everyone else on Tampa wasn't playing physical and the Penguins were just hitting everything in sight the first two periods.

Tampa had better puck possession I thought, but they were completely unable to solve the Pens defense/MAF and looked more and more timid as the game wore on. And they weren't hurting for chances, either. Lecavalier in particular made a play off a MAF rebound going through his legs and up for the far top corner (which would have stumped a lot of goalies) but a sprawled Fleury got an arm on it. He was on his game.

If TB can't even convert with their offense, this is gonna be an ugly series.

I like how during the Detroit game, they said Datsuk isn't eligible for the Lady Byng trophy this year because he got 15 minutes worth of penalties for fighting... ding ding ding Corey Perry! 5 for fighting, 10 for misconduct (fighting while another fight was taking place). Corey Perry is a bitch and will only drop the gloves with a 4-time Lady Byng winner. Fuck Corey Perry.

After closer review, the NHL needs to abolish the "intent to blow" bullshit. I'd love to use that in court: "Your honor, I'm aware I hit the defendant with my vehicle, but it should be placed on record that I intended to hit the brakes earlier than I actually did"


And fans REALLY need to stop making these team color raps, Black and Yellow was already garbage (but bonus points for being the pioneer), any "professional" similarity is shit, and they're getting worse and worse.

This makes me want to cheer for the bruins.

I agree with you on both topics. Although I don't know why you'd want to cheer for the Habs before the video came out, granted I hate Boston, but the Habs and their fans make me nauseous.

Aside from that, I hope the Caps pick up their game. Their playing in 2nd and 3rd period was horrible. Why would you regress to playing dump and chase... /facepalm

From what I saw, it was a typical playoff game in terms of penalties. They called what they absolutely had to, let them play out the rest. A couple of times in the 3rd the Rangers got a little familiar with Neuvirth, but other than that it was a pretty evenly called game. New York's just annoying as balls to play against.

I like that they didn't call all the little bullshit calls but there was a stretch in the 3rd/OT where I saw about 4-5 penalties in a row by the Rangers in a short period of time and imo you need to call one at some point if one team keeps on fouling. In the end it didn't matter but I felt the Refs didn't really have a good grip on the game.

The Caps dump/chase when they don't have numbers or a clear path now so they don't make bad choices and give up odd man breaks. They played fine and controlled the tempo the majority of the game. There were 4-5 pucks that hit posts and if they had gone in, the game would have been a blowout. Their Defense was stellar imo, there were very few odd man breaks or really even good chances for the Rangers. The best chance was Gaborik chilling in front of the net buy Neuvy made a brilliant save.

I thought the hawks played very well after they were behind 2 goals. I wouldn't be that happy about the victory if I was Vancouver.

A lot of the Canucks were saying the same thing, wasn't their best game but still good enough to stifle the Blackhawks. Looking forward to seeing the next one! I might try to sneak some batteries in so I can throw them at Sharp. See how handsome he is after being hit by a 9volt.

Like the players, many of canucks fans are taking each game 1 by 1. Hawks won the 1st game last 2 times they've met in the playoffs, and we all know what happened. Hawks 1st line can still put pressure on the Canucks. Question is playing 24 minutes, will it start to effect there game play.
