Sharks had their chances and didn't get it done. Shitty calls happen, can't blame them on your failures.
Can't believe god damn Nucks are going to the Finals. Fucking Nuck's fans are some of the worst (except you guys here, you're cool). If I have to watch a Boston-Vancouver series I might have to ban myself from HFBoards to stay away from the festering cesspool of idiocy that is Boston and Vancouver fans.
Honestly the Sharks problem isn't so much their D, they could use a true #1 shut down guy but what team can't say that besides Philly? The real problem with the Sharks is that Pavelski, Heatley, Marleau, Thorton, all of them decide to show up at different times. When they're all on they're unstoppable. Then Marleau pulls shit like he did in the Detroit series, and Thornton bails him out. But once Marleau gets his game back, Heatley and Pavelski disappear. They never seem to fire on all cylinders for whatever reason. For how clutch Pavelski was last year, he was invisible this year outside of the Kings series.
Your tears are wonderful, let me taste them!
As much as I'd like to blame the blown icing call on this loss, it's really the Sharks fault they were in this position. If they won the faceoff, we have a game 6. If we don't give up 3 5 on 3 pp goals in two minutes in game 4, we still have a game 6. Thornton was beastmode, Marleau was beastmode this round, the rest of the team, not so much. Heatley had his best game of the series tonight, but again nothing. Sharks really needed to score on that 5-3 they had in the first period.
Nothing to do now but slap the bag
If he was a playmaker, I'd give him credit for that. Heatley's a scorer though--50 goals a few years ago in the regular season even. So, crediting Spezza and Alfredsson for that total, and Heatley's still a playoff anchor. Even in 20 playoff games in '07 or whenever that was, he only had a handful of goals. So that stat line would be awesome for Thornton or whichever Sedin that is getting the assists this year, for a goal scorer that line is definitely ~~~
And that is the sound of thousands of these being pulled from windows all over the bay area.
Pictures from downtown Vancouver are nuts haha, I wish I was still up there. Can't imagine the chaos if they manage to win the Cup.
They'd better riot. Don't let Montreal beat you in post-cup celebration!
I had to drive through the crowds and past GM place on my way home from a friend's house after watching the game. Was fun... especially in my car that had an Alberta license plate. Such a bizarre goal to win on, but gotta take what you can get I guess. I have friends on facebook who are already planning the parade and I had to force myself not to be like "THEY HAVEN'T WON ANYTHING YET YOU RETARDS".
I agree that Heatley really wasn't an offensive force at all during the series. He had a couple good shots, but nothing that was really close to going in. Defensively though he was great. He played really well in the SJ end when he had to and single-handedly stopped a couple sure Vancouver goals this last game.
I can't really say the Sharks pulled a "SJ Sharks" in the post season this year. In the last 2 games, they had more than double the shots Vancouver had. They played well, they just lost to a better team. Simple as that really. Yeah there were a lot of missed calls, but fuck man, this is playoff hockey. The refs won't call the majority of penalties. It's always been like that. I remember series before the lockout where players would physically hold onto players, tie them up at the opposing blueline, and just not let them skate away, and the refs didn't call it. Yeah the regular season is a hell of a lot more strict on penalties, but all that gets tossed out the window come post season. Blatant shit, and calls that must be made are made. Plenty of hooks, slashes and interference calls this game that during the regular season would have been called, but again, playoff hockey, that's all you need to say really.
We're talking about the missed procedural calls which they really have no excuse for missing. Not the missed / ignored high sticks, slashes, etc.
L2read.
they cant make up their mind whether they want pre or post strike hockey i feel like.

Shit like that has happened all season though. Nothing to get all upset over. I could go over 4 or 5 plays in my mind during the Flames run in 04 against the Lightning where I could argue the same thing. But again, in the heat of the moment, with the adrenaline flowing and the roar of the crowd around em, gotta cut the refs some slack
Calls get missed in every sport. It happened, and its over. Nothing we can do. At least it isn't the NBA.
It was kinda funny how the refs ignored like 3 high sticks, trips galore, and a hugely obvious slash in P3 / OT / 2OT of that game because they wanted to see the teams resolve the game at even strength.
Edit:
Also they have NO excuse for missing icing / "not too many men" / non-offsides calls like they did. What, were they not paying attention to the game?
But they really did have an excuse to miss the icing call, it was a fast play with absolutely minute contact. If anything that is the sort of thing I would expect refs to miss, and would be quite impressed if they managed to call that it correctly with any sort of consistency.
shit like this happens and i understand people need to bring it up and complain (shit i was doing it in the DET vs SJ series) but that's how it is. Shit during lacrosse i would do shit to players and not get called and the same would happen back it's a risk you take, some time you pay for it other times you get the pay off for not getting called. That is how sports are called.
I mean fuck man remember that almost no hitter that pitcher for the Tigers almost had but a bad called fucked em. Happens everywhere.
but they are looking in to it for hockey.
