Wasn't all that minute, the play-by-play (who are total Vancouver homers, CBC) noticed it immediately, I noticed it watching as well. Still, they're highly paid professionals for a reason, and they blew a very basic procedural call that had a big impact on the outcome of the game--at least the 3rd major fuckup on a procedural call in the series.

Also good job being a retard Ace and comparing it to "missed" judgment calls. Again.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cq21muvX3vE the icing in question starts at 3:36, keep in mind it hits the canuck and makes a fairly significant change in direction. The shark (Boyle?) was still a dumbass for slapping it out that hard, that's probably reason why it got missed.

The refs miss a tripping call against SJ in OT.
The refs miss a high sticking call against SJ in OT.
The refs miss a slashing call against SJ in OT.
The ref miss an icing call that's impossible to see “END OF THE FUCKING WORLD”

So, are you going to blame everything on the reffing? One terrible call prevented you from moving on? Oh wait did that call also prevent the sharks from winning the faceoff and defending the zone for the next 30 seconds? Or was the call for them not being able to score a goal for the next 30 some minutes? Was all of that based on that call? The good news is you guys are improving from 0 wins last year in the western conference to 1 this year, hell 3 more and you can win!

Regardless though, that's what it was "missed" whether or not they were doing it on purpose you can’t change the outcome after it's happened.

    Hate to use this but

That's what everyone is who bitches about it.

You’re not in the rink you’re not reffing the game you’re not dealing with the noise, distractions, whining by the teams and worried about seeing all the ice. You skate down there and make calls if you’re such an expert but everyone fucks up at one time.

Agreed they shouldn't fuck up and they should be looked at and be reviewed but it's not going to change shit. I'm sure there are people who like to sit on their couches and call game (like I do) but it's a fuck ton different when your down there on the ice.

Plain and fucking simple they are judging the game FROM THE ICE NOT FROM UP TOP! Shit goes fast; they can’t see every damn thing on the ice and the sure as shit will make mistake like they do EVERY DAMN GAME. Just with some game it affects a lot more than just an off sides call.

If you should really bitch about anything bitch about Luongo covering up the puck in the first so the refs couldn’t see it and call it something. That is far worse than anything I saw

Anywho, I caught some of the 3rd and all of both overtimes last night, Sharks are a hell of a club and it's gonna be sad to hear another summer of how they can't win when it matters. They played really good hockey all postseason long and just got beaten by a better team. I hope Doug Wilson doesn't go nuts and blow up the team, although they do have quite a bit of money locked up with the big four contracts. The Niemi/Niittymaki tandem ain't cheap either.

The calls not made in OT weren't "missed", they were not made. Maybe you've been a hockey fan for all of 3 years or something, but that's the way it pretty much always is in playoff OT. The refs pretty much put away their whistles and only call shit that is either a) procedural (too many men, delay of game, etc) or b) truly game changing like a trip/hook on a clear breakaway or c) blatant attempt to injure.

Anyway if you read my posts you'll see that I said the Canucks were the better team and deserved to win the series on the whole. The sharks could have been 2-3 goals up at the end if they didn't want to leave it to bad calls or bad bounces. But that doesn't excuse the downright shitty officiating, and it's been pretty bad this postseason. Maybe once you get over your man-crush on Babcock and start being a hockey fan you'll see that.

Also that play in the first where Lu pushed himself out of the goal before showing the puck was pretty funny but not a goal.

PS. Ovie was good this year, just like he was pretty decent last year, but the Caps have yet to learn you need a whole team if you want to go far.

I'd say Sharks ditched the Choker title...atleast for now. They came close to retaining it a couple times, but getting to the conference finals hardly sounds like choking to me. Theres other factors in play as well as to what happened:
1-they should never have gone 6 games with such an injury depleted kings team.
2-they should have never gone 7 games against the wings after being up 3-0

I'm still completely stunned by that goal. Dumpin to corner, all the canucks and sharks are looking into the corner dumbfounded about where the puck is, and then they just start celebrating. Even on the video replay from the wide angle shot, you cant even see the puck go in.

To the angry bitter biased DET fan:

It wouldn't have made it to OT if not for the bad Icing call at the end of the 3rd they scored right after the icing call even though it hit the VAN player. I saw a lot of bad calls or missed calls they did go both ways, I can't make a statement without sounding biased but it did seem like more of the calls went to the VAN side throughout the entire series, but I admit some key calls went to the Sharks too.

Anyways, even if the Sharks won that game it would have been an uphill battle those ginger twins with their ginger friends are phenomenal. After seeing them play they look like the best combo I've seen, better that Datsyuk and Zetterburg. Not to take anything away from those two individually. I tried to imagine just how insane it would be to be so talented and then have a twin where you guys know each others every move without even saying anything. At first I thought it was so odd that two twins were on the same team competing at this level but then I began to think it's almost odd that we don't see this more often in team sports given how much an advantage it would give them working together. Even if the two twins weren't both individually super talent rich they get such an advantage playing together with someone they've played with their entire life, I could see that helping in so many sports.

gg VAN, I hope someday in my life time my team can make the Stanley cup, we keep getting so close and coming up short.

Then Marleau pulls shit like he did in the Detroit series, and Thornton bails him out. But once Marleau gets his game back, Heatley and Pavelski disappear. They never seem to fire on all cylinders for whatever reason. For how clutch Pavelski was last year, he was invisible this year outside of the Kings series.

This is about as true as anything that can be said, it's depressing also knowing it while you watch a game and your team struggles.

SJ's real problem was that they didn't finish off the Wings cleanly. Ultimately, the injuries/exhaustion from playing all those extra minutes caught up with them; they shut down in game 1 and game 2 after only 2 periods.

Also yeah, when you look at the series in hindsight, Luongo was a golden god, and the canucks did a great job of shutting down the skill game of SJ--most of their goals were either garbage goals / goalie mistakes or on the PP, whereas the canucks continued to put in skill goals.

Still, with a healthy Thornton and not handing away a 2-0 series lead, the series would have been a coin flip.

not that the Canucks are to blame pure stupidity by SJ but still to say all SJ goals were garbage and all Canucks were amazing is dumb.

I was honestly surprised at how well the Canucks did shutting down the Sharks depth up front. The second and third lines for the most part were non-factors in the series. The fact that our third line played better then the Pavelski line blew me away as I thought Pavelski would have dominated, but I guess he can only carry Welly so far.

Which is why I didn't say that.

I said most SJ goals were garbage / goalie mistakes or PP goals. Which is true, they were. Look at last night: goal #1 went off of a canuck hand in front of the net, otherwise it was too high to deflect without a high stick. Goal #2 Luongo decided to play defense instead of goalie. Meanwhile, the Canucks got a brilliant deflection and a classic Sedin goal, and then that garbage goal in 2OT. In game 1, SJ had a PPG and a Luongo mistake. In game 2, SJ had 2 goals on the PP and then one long after the game was lost. Game 3, 3 of 4 SJ goals were on PP. Game 4, SJ dominated the game and only scored twice.

Luongo was great, and the Canuck defense was great at limiting the skill play of the sharks.

Vancouver was by far the better team, and even when we faced them in the regular season, I believe they won the season series against us, and by a decent margin if I recall. I know some of the detroit fans are laughing even though they have been booted twice by the choking sharks Yea the missed icing blows, but you know what, you win the face off and clear it down, it's a moot point. Even if it was icing would have been less than 10 seconds on the clock. I have to look up expiring contracts to see what we have, but I know our core is set and overall the age of our team isn't bad. If we keep developing rookies like Couture, were golden. Looking at the current roster, we have 4 people above the age of 33, and with the exception of Boyle (34) all of them are role players. (Mayers, Nichol, Wallin)

I dunno if you're trying to be funny but I wholeheartedly agree. After the '09 playoffs I swore a blood oath to the hackey gods I would respect Sid's game and never call him those idiotic names most Caps fans do.
