Playoff hackey.
If you throw the book hard at everything, you'll have alot of careful players on the ice, for whatever good/bad that will be. Let the players police themselves, it's more fun to watch
One game is a slap on the wrists, though.

I'm more pissed that they give Torres two playoff games to send a message. Then someone in the playoffs crush a guys head into the glass effectively taking Ian White out of the playoffs and he gets one. single. game.
So what was the point of the message sending with the Torres suspension? Keep it consistent or let the players police themselves.
That one game suspension was a bunch of fucking bullshit. And stoll wouldn't even take responsibility for it and tried to blame White. NHL Discipline is all sorts of fucked up.
New boss is the same as the old boss, ect
Nothing ever changes with this league, no matter how much fanfare they make about it.

The point is breaking the rules results in being subjected to the "Arbitrary Suspension-Ometer". Nobody wants that. Thus, message sent!
This is how I imagine NHL discipline right now.
Now the 1000th time I've seen the Stoll hit, should have been called a major. Should have been game misconduct. Not sure about the suspension.
It looked fairly innocent, aside from the elbow on the head. If Stoll caught White lower down, perhaps leading with the hip or contact on the shoulder, you'd have a good check behind the net OR you'd have a boarding call if the ref likes little boys.
The problem is contact was elbow to back of the head, and White's face was rubbed out on the boards.
Elbowing:
Is anybody going to call this penalty, or are we just going straight to suspensions?45.1 Elbowing - Elbowing shall mean the use of an extended elbow in a manner that may or may not cause injury.
45.2 Minor Penalty - The Referee, at his discretion, may assess a minor penalty, based on the degree of violence, to a player guilty of elbowing an opponent. Check
45.3 Major Penalty - A major penalty, at the discretion of the Referee, shall be imposed on any player who uses his elbow to foul an opponent. A major penalty must be imposed under this rule for a foul resulting in an injury to the face or head of an opponent (see 45.5). Check
45.4 Match Penalty - The Referee, at his discretion, may assess a match penalty if, in his judgment, the player attempted to or deliberately injured his opponent by elbowing. (Not Sure)
45.5 Game Misconduct Penalty - When a major penalty is imposed under this rule for a foul resulting in an injury to the face or head of an opponent, a game misconduct penalty shall also be imposed. Check
Caps V Rangers about to start. You know, I don't see how the Rangers win this series. WSH is a lot more competent in their own zone this time around, and they play one-goal games pretty disciplined, at least they did in wednesday's OT.
Do you try to Avery the Russkiys for penalties? (wsh doesn't take many). Do you pelt the youngsters in wsh's pipes? (Wsh cuts lanes better than ever, plays competent along the boards) Do you hunker down behind Lundqvist? (Everyone knows WSH can score, given time).
sassagecam is a no-go tonight, my pc is fucked up again
7m, 4 penalties, 2-0 tampa
Fuck yeah Tampa.
Can y'all hear Sepukku crying too?
3-0 now. So much for that defense that was going to give tampa fits the entire series.
Watching the Stoll hit last night, my wife who knows nothing about hockey turns to me and says, "Are they allowed to do that?" That should be the rule of thumb. If the hit makes your old lady consider banning you from watching hockey, it deserves a major and a longer suspension.
Caps flying around in the 1st but they look super jittery.
Terrible icing call, w/e.
Rangers winning puck battles so far, it's been pretty even so far.
Is the Rangers' GM the grandson of Winston Churchill? That cigar isn't even lit lol

Sather is in flavour country. In his mind.
I had no issue with Torres getting 2 regular and 2 playoff if it was the base for future hits. The hit by Stoll was a direct hit to the back of the head and no responsibility was taken after the fact. NHL really must flip a coin or plinko for rulings.
Either way, TB finally playing the way they should be. Or at least what i predicted. Lol. Hopefully tonight 'Nuck fans will be chucking up the deuces to the hawks tonight.
Ollie Rollie Pollie you had a 3 goal lead... Don't fuck it up.
3 goal lead - worst lead in hockey.
PIT gets some junk in front and pots it. 3-1 Tampa
