Well the hit on Sedin is technically a hockey play, an obvious slash should have been called. I know it wouldn't do anything as it would be served by someone else but I'm pretty sure those are the things that should be called.

Well the hit on Sedin is technically a hockey play, an obvious slash should have been called. I know it wouldn't do anything as it would be served by someone else but I'm pretty sure those are the things that should be called.

This. The slash tonight was clearly a violation, just because it was retaliation doesn't make it not a penalty. The hit on Sedin was perfectly legal. You cannot initiate contact outside of the crease. Sedin was within the crease, Thomas was within the rules to 'initiate contact', there's no clause that says the 'contact' can't be wrecking someone's shit with a body check.
