Watched the game at the big screen at Georgia and Homer, left the area as soon as the game ended and it looked like a riot was starting, went to Steamworks and had pitchers, took seabus, back at home by 11:30. All these chumps stuck downtown are pussies.

Still hard to believe the Boston Bruins are the Stanley Cup champs. When I look on NHL.com and at pics and stuff and see them hoisting the Cup it just seems weird to me. I really never thought they'd make it this far over the regular season. Julien seemed too stubborn and conservative, their system seemed too defensive, their PP was too shitty, they were too inconsistent and took too many penalties. Kaberle was a shitty pickup and Bergeron and Horton were hurt.

And yet here we are. Amazing. Gotta say with any goalie other than TT and his performance these playoffs.. no way would Boston be here.

Glad to hear the Vancouver BGers are safe and sound. I feel bad since it makes Vancouver look pretty savage as a whole, when that's not the case.
Though I haven't been there in years (Family in Richmond), I have the shittiest luck while there. Last 3 times I've been to Granville Market, 3 jumpers.
Either I have the most stellar timing, or is that a common occurance?


My buddy updated his Facebook status with something that made me laugh. Along the lines of "We let our govermnment fuck us around and we sit back and take it in the ass, but we lose one hockey series and look at the riots." Sad, but true.

Now that I am home gotta say biggest props to the Canucks fans, great to see them staying and cheering for most of the Bruins, hilarious that Bettman got booed so vehemently yet again.

I'm proud of the fans inside most home teams only have 1/3rd their sellout capacity left after defeat but they lost with dignity.This is lost in the news of the bullshittery that took place after the game. Fucking clowns, people post oh blah blah blah Vancouver doesn't deserve a cup after this hope they never win a cup. Vancouver deserves a god damn cup as much as the looters and rioters deserve fines / discipline what have you.

Yeah the fans in the arena were class-acts. Amazed that all the rioting actually happened, it had mostly just been a running gag when I had said it previously, I thought only Quebecis were terrible enough to do that stuff.

So here we are. After a six-month season, four rounds of playoffs, and seven gruelling games, the NHL has crowned its champion. The Stanley Cup has been awarded. One fan base is devastated, while another will celebrate late into the night.

In the moments after a thrilling game seven, I’d like to take a moment to address you directly, fans of the winning team.

It seems like only yesterday that your team was struggling through a first round series against your bitter rivals who historically dominate you in the playoffs. But you survived, just barely, thanks to an overtime goal in game seven. Remember the excitement when the winning goal was scored, by that particular player? Little did we know the controversy that awaited them weeks later.

Your team waltzed through the second round against Peter Forsberg’s old team, then beat that non-traditional warm weather team in the conference finals. And there you were, back in the Stanley Cup finals for the first time in a generation. Who can forget that last time you played for Lord Stanley’s mug, back in the early 90s? I bet you can still picture your team competing furiously, proudly representing those black and yellowish-gold uniforms that they wore then and perhaps still do, before finally going down to a bitter defeat. Damn you, Mark Messier!

But a generation later you were back, and this time the opportunity would not be wasted. It wasn’t easy. It was a vicious series, in which your team persevered despite several sickening cheapshots by the opposing team. You endured your team being taunted with immature finger waves. You watched devastating hits on Nathan Horton and Mason Raymond, 50% of which you thought were unquestionably dirty. The entire hockey world outside of your particular city was united against your team, you told us, incessantly. And let’s not even mention those shameless homer announcers on the other team’s broadcast.

And then game seven. The series had seen it all, from overtime thrillers to lopsided blowouts to everything in between, and game seven certainly fit into one of those categories. All eyes were on Roberto Luongo. Many thought he would rise to the occasion while others thought he would crumble, and in the end we now know they were right. Without question, this game will be his defining legacy.

The end of the game must seem like a blur to you now. There was that goal scored by that one guy, and then that big hit with that other guy, then that other thing done by some other guy, and then the Conn Smythe won by Tim Thomas.

And then, the magic moment you’d been waiting on for four long decades, give or take a year. What fan among you will ever forget the sight of Gary Bettman passing the Stanley Cup into the waiting arms of good old #33? And who says Europeans can’t make great captains? Certainly not anyone who has had the pleasure of watching your team’s leader, a truly unique talent. He certainly is one- or at the very most two-of-a-kind.

And now it’s all over but the riot cleanup. Your boys are champions. A Stanley Cup banner will be raised in your arena next year. After an agonizing, debilitating, gut-wrenching test of your endurance as a fan, it was all worth it.

But at least you’re not like those fans of the other team. Imagine how devastated they must feel right now. Serves them right, those losers. Thank god you have nothing in common with them.

Boston played an amazing game last night. Thomas was not "brilliant" because he didn't even have to be, just had to be solid and his mates sorted the rest out.

Goal #3 was BS and should have been waved off. Colliding with the goalie in his own crease etc. Ref could have waved it off and just called a penalty shot, but in fact, I didn't think it even looked like a penalty on the defender there.

Though it wouldn't have made a difference, Boston played an amazing game on the defensive side. Aside from that one Chara giveaway, Vancouver forwards never had real chances with the puck without a Boston player on them.

I was pretty disappointed with the game, to be honest. Vancouver gave up and floated through a lot of the game. Boston wasn't a spectacular, dazzling opponent, but they were consistent, and evidently that's all they needed to weather Vancouver's occasional brilliance. I had thought forcing game 7 would have lit a fire under Van, but I think I should have paid more mind to the fact that they floated through game 6. They had a chance to take home the Stanley Cup on Monday, and they looked like they couldn't be fucked.

The only Canuck I want to specifically call out for awesome last night was Kesler. It seemed as if he was the only guy on the ice who recognized what the fuck game they were playing. Last night looked like a lop-sided regular season game. Again, not that Boston wasn't good, but Vancouver played fifteen minutes of hockey. Still vote for Boston/TB G7 as the best game of the playoffs.

Starting to hear about some of the injuries now. Edler was playing with two broken fingers. God how bad is Ballard that they wouldn't let him play? No way we can trade him now unless some team really needs help getting to the cap floor.

Ugh I was really hoping it wasn't true but the guy that fell 50 feet last night was wearing a Bruins jersey. He bounced off an awning then hit the ground. No word on his condition yet but I pray he's ok.

So disgusted in "Canuck fans" right now. Saw a video of a guy trying to stop people from breaking into a store, got jumped for it.
