I've seen some people trying to push a romantic relationship onto them but I don't see it.

They're probably just supposed to be the opposite of Sansa and Sandor, whose romance will sadly never see the light of day.

I'm almost done the third book in my bajillionth re-read.

I've been thinking about all the minor characters that pop up in the book that might or might not make it into the show.

Here's a list of minor characters I hope appear:
Dolorous Edd
Quaithe
Any giant
Ygritte (seems pretty likely she'll appear though)

I feel like Ygritte has to be in. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if Ygritte ends up with some of Tormund's lines (or others...but Tormund is the other friendly one)...they seem to be fond of kinda combining multiple characters into 1 (Ned's household guard being the shining example, but there's others too iirc), which makes sense for a TV adaptation really. I feel like if Dolorous Edd "exists", his character will be an amalgamation of various brothers as well, and may not really be pure to the book. His lines may remain on a different named character, or he may exist in name and say a bunch of lines that aren't his. But ya, Ygritte seems way too central to Jon's plot arc to leave out, in so many different ways.

Ygritte has to be in, Jon's character arc makes no sense without her and she provides most of the emotional punch for the north of the wall story.

Tormund might get axed :[ but HBO does love their comic relief so i wouldn't be surprised from him to show up

Donal Noye has yet to make an appearance and Tyrion snagged his Jon you're a bully speech but it sure would be swell to come across his corpse in the act of murdering the king of the giants.
