w/e, I asked nicely. I never use the dorito. It's the show thread that has people all butthurt. Tbh its not a big deal to me, I'd just rather wait and read those chapters in full context. And if they end up being the opening chapters... well so what? its not like I missed anything. I'm the same way with video games. If I intend on playing the story at launch, I won't play it in Beta unless my progress is being saved. That's just how I like to do things.

I avoid them as well. I want them in the order he finishes it with them in. The order of chapters has such a ladder in the chaos feel sometimes. Your whole world collapses in one chapter, you're tense in the next chapter, and you're laughing the next. He is an artist with your emotional ups and downs as you read through the book...especially when done in one or two sittings. If you allow everything to just fade away and be absorbed into the world...it's great. It is one of the reasons I love books much more than I'll ever love movies.

jesus fucking christ. re-reading the books. on book 1. when catelyn gets to the gate of the moon or whatever, on her way to the Eyrie, she thinks: "Sometimes she felt as though her heart had turned to stone;"

There's some ridiculous foreshadowing in the second book from her. It's painful to read now.

Yeah, I'm on my 6th or 7th readthrough. It gives away so much.

I read the house of the undying after seeing the Red Wedding on TV. Was like WTF IT SAYS IT RIGHT HERE @_@

yeah, that's why they changed the whole Qarth scenario for the show. The House of the Undying would not have worked well like that on TV. Robb and all the people at his feet would have been instantly recognizable, whereas in the books Dany doesn't recognize them so you don't either. Because at that point, you can't even imagine that ever happening. And no, this isn't my first re-read, but whenever I read a book, I notice more of the details than I did the previous time through. This is my... fourth time through, I think? Maybe third.

I'm not sure if he's referring to the Dunk & Egg novellas but they're prequels to the main series. They're set about 90~ years before the main series. GRRM has said that he'll be writing more than the three that are already out.
