an though? From my understanding, Varys sees Tyrion as one of the few good people in Westeros. I believe he even says it at some point to Shae? So when he says that he still remembers, it's not "you ruined my plan" it's more "I will remember, but I have to participate in this farce of a trial to keep my schemes going"
Varys knew that if KL fell there would be tons of rape/pillaging and everything and he seems more to think of the people. He sometimes speaks mournfully that people suffer whenever highborn begin to fight. To me, he is looking out for the people of Westeros while Littlefinger is looking out for Littlefinger.[/QUOTE]

I think she would just because she is an evil bitch but I don't think Tywin would allow that to happen under any circumstances (losing both of his sons).
Wait the show is going to surpass the book? Fuck that shit. Give me my goddamn novels you filthy illiterate swine.
there is nearly a 100% chance the show surpasses the book and finishes the series before Martin does. the showrunners have said they want the show to last 7 or 8 seasons at most meaning the end of this season is the halfway point and at best there are four years left. if you think Martin can squeeze out two books in four years, well. i'd consider it lucky if we got book 6 by the end of 2015, with A Dream of Spring around 2020.
I can't believe it's been almost 3 years since Dance and we don't have dick for the next release date.
i can believe it all too well. also after dance I don't think i'd trust a release date unless there's a picture of the book already printed out and ready to go
The baby/whitewalker thing could just be them spelling things out for the show goers, where as it will remain only implied in the books, wouldn't be the first time. Than again, the fact that the 'night's king' was with exactly twelve other WWs in that scene has some implications.
EDIT: Are we going to have to start spoiler tagging TV stuff in the book thread? lol
Is it Martin who's holding it up or the publisher? I know often times it's the publisher trying to drive up the want for books to make as much bang when they print the hardcover edition and wait a year to print paperback (which is fucking stupid as shit). Wasn't it true of the Harry Potter series that Rowling had a few books already written but the publisher wanted to create a demand and published them on a timeline instead?
its martin
it was Martin, dude just can't resist expanding his story into ever greater complexity. series was supposed to be a trilogy originally, then five, then Dance + Feast were one book, etc. dig the extra details and subplots (outside of Greyjoy and Dorne politics mirite fellas) but it does not make for a punctual writing process
also now his time is split between producing the show + writing supplemental material and the main series
ARE YOU TALKING SHIT ON AREO MOTHER FUCKING HOTAH?!
oh, btw, you guys were right, Oberyn does know
which makes that little scene before tywin came in pretty interesting if you think about it...
Oberyn: So, does this mean I am the master of something now? Coins, ships...
shit nigga I'd consider it lucky if you could make it a day without shitposting. look at all that dumdum shit up there.
man I can't remember for the life of me but I thought I read somewhere that was not a forum that said ol RR was going to have a bit of a time jump in the next book or two. I guess the released chapters rule that out for the next book though.
The time jump was supposed to be before 4 and 5. He couldn't figure out how to make it work for every character so he didn't do it.
The only change (so far) from book to TV that made me pretty salty was the Rob+Jeyne vs Robb+Talisa stuff. Talisa was a relatively unlovable character and it kinda killed the impact of the TV version of the Red Wedding knowing that it was a consequence of puppy love. Not that book Robb was far off, but there was at least the concept that he followed up an act of passion with Jeyne by marrying her afterwards because it was the honorable thing to do. There was a strong parallel between Ned and Robb in the books, in that their honor led to their eventual downfall. TV Robb was way different; especially with him bringing Talisa to the Red Wedding, almost unapologetically parading her in front of the Freys. Almost made you hate TV Walder Frey a little less.
