If I were rich I'd be all over that.
we know that Doran has spies that are so incredibly descriptive it could only possibly be varys
that scene was pure book fanservice tho, which is why I'm taking it as meaningful
nah, I'm pretty sure it wasn't on purpose, I just don't think that theory can be completely dismissed out of hand like you guys doAnd even if it was, not having 100% knowledge does not make him suicidal.
But obviously there's no reason to keep arguing. So you can go on thinking Oberyn wanted to die so that maybe (just fucking maybe) Tywin would order Pycelle to keep Gregor alive as long as possible to make him suffer. And the rest of us can go on thinking he was just too blinded by his vengeance to notice he fucked up in a fight with one of the most dangerous men in the world.
fanservice doesn't mean meaningless; but in show context, that scene is entirely meaningless
> implying any show only watcher ever is going to be like "OH NOW THAT SCENE WITH OBERYN MAKES SENSE"
that scene would have been pretty meaningless in the books at this point, too; and according to the arguments that brought us to this discussion, and the arguments people have made since it got here ("lulz it might not be varys!" and "Oberyn knows everything!"), the scene is flat out incorrect
Of course they would. When they show that scene in "previously on" right before they do any reveals.
I haven't seen the latest episode yet but...the Mannis didn't happen? Wat.
recent episode spoiler
Spoiler: show
Damn. Thought that would've been a good way to end the episode. We're gonna get yet another epic moment crammed into episode 10 now.
I think this is the first time the season finale is going to be a "true" grand finale.
S1 finale was pretty epic, but this shit is just going to be completely off the charts.
It looks like they may even have Bran's arrival at the cave squeezed in, given the preview.
And yeah, I was totally checking what time it was near the end, and trying to remember the runtime for this episode, thinking it must be going to end with Stannis romping shit.
Yeah. Season 1 had a good epic ending with the dragons. Can't remember anything too big from S2 and 3 finale. But this next one is going to have so much..
-Enter the Mannis
-Arya leaving Hound
-Tywin/Tyrion/Shae
-Lady Stoneheart
That's the most variety of mind blowing shit I can think of out of any GoT episode actually, not just a finale.
someone remind me why it's Mannis
i want to use that as my sig this week but people will figure shit out qq
Why not? No spoilers in there.
Stannis the Mannis goes from curmudgeon to Tywin v2.0 in the books
in seriousness, though
because he's the one king who views it as his responsibility rather than simply his right
because he saves the seven kingdoms from the wildlings when no one else would
most importantly...
Because he marches on the Boltons, as a Stormlander, in the North, during winter... in the name of the Starks. All this despite the fact that Robb (and Cat) wouldn't bend the knee, knowing full well that the reason they're in that situation was directly their refusal to do so.
