The targs are obviously related to their awakening (hence the show displaying the pictures they make of Dany's progress) but the rest of that theory is pretty far-fetched and utterly and completely changes Nan's story in ways that seem to run completely counter to the whole her knowing what's really up thing.


There's also the fact that most of the wildlings were never south of the wall (and others like thenns came thousands of years ago), giants thenns etc. are running but would have been there through the long night.

Eh, I'm still going with it and its the most agreed-upon ending (certainly that doesnt make it right, obviously). Jon will end up renewing a contract with an Other female and the seasons will go back to normal summer + winter weather 50/50 yearly.

I believe GRM already stated that the seasons (long winters/summers for years) would be resolved and explained by the ending of the story.

No chance that is the ending. It all makes a fair amount of sense, but I just don't see it.

Jon (product of Lyanna and Rhaegar) marries Dany, defeats / brokers peace with the Others, and reigns as King of the Seven Kingdoms. Unlikely, but I kind of hope it happens. And I haven't read the books in like 5 years; so out of touch with the specifics these days.

Seems to me that summer is just their normal weather and winter is when the others start fucking around, and the long ones are just when they're getting strong.

No, he has stated multiple times (I'll look for it when work slows down) that the weather isn't normal and that it would be "resolved" and "explained" by the ending of the last book.

There is more from the interviews where he stated something was currently "unbalanced" and in the end, it may or may not be balanced again and seasons might return to normal. That could be him marrying Dany (IMO she is 100% dead), could just be him being named king since he has blood of both (considering R+J = true), etc.

No "pretty much" about it. Cousin marriages are fine. Tywin and Joanna were cousins. Convincing Westeros that Jon was not Eddard's and a Jon & Sansa union wouldn't be a marriage of half-siblings is the hard part.

I don't recall anyone from major houses other than Targs or Tywin and Joanna being that close, and, uh, there's been some... interesting... results there.


Most marriages are to lesser houses within your realm of control to keep your bannermen close, or the sudden surge of marrying warden houses of other kingdoms that preceded and continued through the war of the 5 kings (as well as kept Dorne in check for the targs).

Lysa was pretty cool with marrying Sansa to Robin. I mean, she's crazy and all, but noone seemed to think the cousin issue was a big deal there either.
