Well either way, I'm not gonna take this as gospel until I see more confirmation. Won't bother me one way or the other.

Yeah who knows for sure, and of course it's entirely possible that they shot some of this season while they had them there since it's one of the few sets that won't change at all for quite a while. It would be quite a lot of work to set that room up and get everyone there to use it for like 1 minute of the season then let it sit for a year.
I'll be sad tho if there's a full year of no Hodor. Kristian is fucking amazing.
I feel like Kristian is actually under appreciated becauSe he only ever says one thing.
Takes some chops to convey emotion with just inflection and body language
I am Groot.
remind me not to read threads on reddit in places where show only people are prevalent
there's a different tournament going on from the /whowouldwin sub, and gregor is beating Hotah by a 2-1 margin
areo hotah
the guy oberyn's niece says "No man can stand before"
is getting trounced
by the guy oberyn completely dominated til he did something retarded at the end
in a tournament where one of the rules is neither fighter will do retarded shit like that
and the arguments... sigh
You should feel right at home then.
We've still never really seen Hotah go off. So who knows
Didn't he kill a kingsguard in like 1 swing?
a wounded Arys that was basically on a suicide charge, but yeah, 1 shot
If Oberyn's family thinks Areo is untouchable, it's safe to assume he's at the very least slightly better than Oberyn.
Plus, after Robert and his hammer, Areo and Victarion's longaxes are probably the best melee weapons for heavily armored combat in the series, assuming vsteel/dawn can't just cut through armor.
You want heavy, blunt blows, you need reach for fighting something like Gregor, and the axes even have the benefit of dismembering better than even a broadsword.
I'm very confident Areo Hotah would downright embarrass Gregor Clegane in single combat.
It probably has everything to do with exposure. It is well documented that Ser Gergor is the biggest and most feared man in Westeros. That is referenced by several POVs.
As for Areo, you're left to take the word a 23 year old loyalist who has rarely, if ever, traveled outside of Dorne at this point. So even her information about Areo is 2nd hand versus men who have seen Ser Gregor in combat.
He's mentioned often as being huge, and occasionally as being fast for his size, but...
Gregor has never had an impressive 1 on 1 combat mentioned in the series. We know he enters tournaments, because we've seen him lose one-- we've never heard of him having won any.
We've never heard of him going into combat with any of the big names when it comes to skill...
We know he killed Beric a couple times (notably Beric who has no meaningful accomplishments as opposed to Thoros who has tourney wins including occasionally beating Beric directly), and he beat "Ser" Hugh and Balon Swann in a joust... and that's literally it. I mean, it really says quite a lot about the guy that Ned, who may or may not be a great fighter but is undoubtedly a great commander, felt Thoros and Beric were good enough to go and get him, unaware there was a substantial army there in addition to The Mountain's Men.
His accomplishments really amount to "has killed a whole hell of a lot of simple men-at-arms and children, and pulled off a double kill on Oberyn when Oberyn was being stupid." And oh yeah he couldn't kill an unarmed Loras Tyrell while attacking unexpectedly before Sandor stepped in clowned him.
Really it's because it's people watching the show that haven't read the books. It's much more apparent when you read the thread because of how many arguments are based entirely on show-only stuff, like "All he'd have to do is break his axe like he did Oberyn's spear!"
Which makes it especially amusing since a few months ago none of those people would really think Gregor was anything special anyway lol.
Dude. Once again. Jaime lost to Syrio in that tournament. The greatest natural swordsman Barristan ever saw lost to a water dancer from Braavos. That tournament is garbage.
Different tournament.
Jaime lost to Barristan 79-76 in this one.
He beat mance and then Bran controlling hodor, both like 250-10 ; ;
show viewers don't know shit about the mance
Doesn't matter. Held in the same place. No credibility as far as I'm concerned. Although this loss is better than Syrio.
bran warging hodor lol
