It does make one kind of sense to do it that way, but surely it's not a perfect solution if you want to prove your commitment in the short-term. "Wait and see" could be the tagline of the game!

i like how it seems like jobs will be laid over the armoury system.

If I simply had to speculate, I'd say that jobs might be linked to character level, or may be a result of abilities synthesized from various classes.
