My LS has been debating about the scale mail for MRD/LNC/GLA and the helmet being the best DD pieces since attributes don't seem to have a huge effect.

Confirmed that Pyrausta drops the r25 Howling Talons. Went 0/10 or something like that.

Someone in my shell got them. I think they were camping Cactuar Jack at the time, don't quote me on that though.

They drop from Cactuar Jack. Got two pairs while trying to get my helm.

Finally got an armor piece to drop, pretty annoying drop rates.

On a serious note, would anyone else say the Kokoroon's Darkshell Mail and Conquistador Elmo are better than a Vintage Hauby/Silver Tricorne in terms of DD?

Certainly not endorsing anything like 24 hour random spawns, and maybe I'm in the minority here... but content feeds content. Lottery spawns themselves give you something to do, and any kind of un-ridiculous cooldown gives you time to kill. Like Ochiudo back in the day for example. Did I really give a shit about farming astral rings from coffers after he spawned/died? Or the top floor for keys/scrolls? Not really, but I was needed Ochiudo and he couldn't spawn again yet. So I played in the vicinity until he could, then killed a humongous room of placeholders for a bit until he showed.

It was something to do. These respawn instantly and give very little, and I feel the commonality of them makes obtaining these items more of a technicality then anything else.

    Maybe its just me.

I agree with you but its still technically doing lame things in game to fill the void between killing the NM and not killing the NM. I guess it just depends on how you look at it.

If its any consolation... The drop rates on some of these items will make the process take a while. Especially if theres people around... lol

I see these NMs as casual content that you do till you don't need it anymore then move on. Definitely not something that will define the game going forward.

Why are people bitching about the low repop rate NM's?

Maybe I'm not the best guy to talk about it considering I felt the NM system was pretty damn boring in XI (and had lot of fun with stroper chyme back in the day), but I'd rather have a decent fight with low repop than just waiting around for shit to pop. That's just something that needs to go. Either through not having NM's at all or by having NM's like this. If this is what makes the game "easy", I welcome the easy.

They aren't 25/35 mobs. You'd need to have a solo-friendly job at least 40-45 I think. I'm thinking most 50 jobs would have at least some trouble soloing.

I watched 7 50's farm the Quirin over and over, it was still 5-7 minute kills.

THM 50 here. I have solo'd: Cactuar Jack (1/1 on Elmo), Phaia (1/1 on Penance), Bardi (1/1 on Divining Hat), Nest Commander (0/1 on anything), Pyrausta (1/2 on claws), and Prince of Pestilence (0/1 on anything).

All a complete joke to solo. And yes, everyone in my LS hates my luck right now.

edit: Just did Alux (1/2 on Kple Kple).

Soloed the Qiqurn and went 1/1 on Darkshell Mail, it looks pretty awesome... nice to have some blue armor! Took fairly long on 50THM, maybe 7 mins or so...

The stuff doesn't seem too bad, only seems hard because people aren't doing the basic stuff like, dodging an attack and just taking it in the face (like the gnat laser for example)
