ffxivboot.exe fail

So, I had the actual game installed on my PC before, but I uninstalled it and am now trying to reinstall it, which I did.
Except now, when I go to launch it, the ffxivboot.exe crashes immediately.
Googling told me this was a common problem in September, but I couldn't really find a solution.
One thing I heard that fixes it is that you basically need to torrent a non-retail version of the game for it to work.

Has a solution been found, or should I start looking for a torrent to download ff14?

Are you able to download the updates via torrent and install them?

If yes it might fix your problem

I fixed it. had to manually update my Radeon. (just changed OSs)

Okay, new problem. The game works fine, I'm on it and everythings running great.
However, I can't change anything in Config. As soon as I hit "OK", it crashes, even if I make no changes.

I have a strange problem too. After I press "enter" anytime in the game, my char starts moving left. Like a button is stuck or something. I can log out, log back in, and my char is fine, until I press enter again!

I just reinstalled 14 and when i click the game Icon a box pops up saying "Final Fantasy XIV has stopped working"

Could try updating drivers like Souj did. I also found this issue to be caused by having afterburner and a mumble client running at the same time. Closing either fixed the error. Could try closing things and see if it helps.

Do you have the MSI afterburner overclocking program installed? It seems to die on a dll hook sometimes for me when XIV launches. Think it has to do with the overlay abilities.
