I mean yeah, but its really a chance for them to sell their older games to a newer generation that has never had the chance to try them before. I don't really expect PSN versions of any game to have new content in it.
^First time I ever look at it that way. That makes more sense, really.
I'm not gonna sit here and deny that they're making these extremely low budget remakes on consoles that sell like mad partly to milk money though. FFXIV does awful? Remake 1-5 again! But you do raise a great point.
Necro~ Date finally announced for this, plus FF5 and Chrono Cross date as well!
Square Enix are holding a “Winter of RPGs” campaign on the PlayStation Network in the U.S. over the next two months.
This means you’re getting Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI as download titles from now until December.
Here’s the schedule:
Chrono Cross – November 8th
Final Fantasy V – November 22nd
Final Fantasy VI – December 8th
I love Chrono Cross; it also has one of the best soundtracks ever.
The end of 2011 just keeps getting better and better @.@
oh hell yeah. I might actually use PSN for once; I can't find a playable version of Chrono Cross on the cfw I'm using. this is good news indeed.
I've done that for a couple of games and it hasn't worked yet. not sure what I'm doing wrong :/ I usually get the PS logo but that's it.
I've downloaded plenty of PSX2PSP games from torrents and most have worked pretty well, so I know it's possible on my cfw (the latest revision of 6.39). some games don't work though, and the ones I convert myself never do.
Hmm, I'll download Crono Cross and try it out myself then. Might be a problem with 6.39 cfw. (I'm still on 5.00 m33-6, lol.)
that might be it. let me know how it goes.
really sucks because I got 20 hours into Tales of Destiny before I realized the compression made it glitchy (the glitch only happens with abilities you get later on in the game). and the only solution I've found on the internets is to convert the game with 0 compression, but I tried that and it won't play at all. ragemode: on
Ha, I actually had that problem with FFVIII as well. Compressed game compounded by the fact that I was using cheats made the game glitch out a ways into playing it. No compression with cheats was fine, however.
With that said, Chrono Cross [U] (SLUS01041) is currently working on my PSP (29% compression). However, I did some Google research, that says that it should glitch up and freeze during the Mama Komodo fight (near her death). Lets see what happens. >.>
Edit: Annnnnnnnnd confirmed lockup freeze glitch upon Mama Komodo's death. That sucks. :\
I'm sure there's a fix for it somewhere on the interwebs, but imo it's probably not worth the hassle.
thanks for checking! and no, probably not worth it. I might try converting my own copy if I can figure out why that whole process isn't working for me, though. I REALLY want to replay Dragon Warrior VII and the version I've found doesn't have a start menu on my cfw.
although, when it comes down to it, I will pay $9.99 if I can get a copy of a game that is guaranteed to work, so I might do that with CC. I loathe the PSN service but I will make exceptions when necessary. not FFVI though - shit, I can play that on my emulator just fine.
YeahUnless they are doing a full blown remake of FFVI, it's not worth it. Hopefully SE finally gets the point that you can't keep milking these franchises in a slipshod way.
I hate to say it, but my resolve is weak. I would totally buy an FFVI remake, despite how many times I've bought the damn game in one form or another.
