Why hasn't anybody posted about HOW MUCH BETTER TARGETING is now? Granted I haven't played in a month or so.. so this could be from a smaller patch. But its WAY better now.

Previously, when you didnt have a target.. your first left/right would automatically target whatever was closest to you regardless of which side it was on/what button you pushed(= RAGE WHEN SOMETHING DIES AND TRYING FOR #2). Then it would continue to cycle in whatever direction you were hitting. It would also use the direction your character is facing as the starting point.. not the direction your camera is facing. GL when offcentered or camera spinning.

After playing with tmode a/b, i realized this is now fixed. Your target based on the direction your camera is facing, always. Distance no longer matters. If you hit left, youll target the first thing on your left (based on the center of your camera) and extend outwards. Just like XI.

Old news? Made me pretty happy.

[edit] Friend says it may be from a March patch, but its worth mentioning again even if it is. Much needed and havent noticed it talked about.

Yeah, it's from one of the 1.16 patches.

I dunno. After not playing for almost 2 months.. I could genuinely recommend a day or two now to check out the new NMs/quests/UI additions. And not be trolling. Not a bad patch overall, enough to have me caring about the next one anyway.

I ran the gamut on NMs for the most part and I agree it was fun and engrossing to an extent. Kept me busy for the better part of two days.

Are the side quests that interesting really? Was put off by the last batch so didn't bother check them out this time.

They are not greatly entertaining but they are starting to show promise. It looks like SE is experimenting with some new ideas and it's one of the last update things that show some improvement.
There are new types of quests where you run to X position and than it asks you if you want to proceed (you can group up) and it basically pops mobs for the quest there an than. It also pops NPCs.
I guess was partially underwhelmed because I was 50 and completely destroyed all the mobs for the quests.
Like Celeras said, enough to keep me caring about the next one but I'm staying away from the game till next one because I wanna give it a fair shot after the combat revamp.
I want to lvl a character from ground up/hunt NMs to get gear as I lvl up/etc.

It's the first part of the combat revamp though, so it might be quite a mess for the Summer.

I guess it depends on how much they focus on making it work side-by-side with the old mechanics.

I don't get the retarded comments on the official forums asking for longer NM respawn timers. I've been duo'ing Downy for the past 6 hours now, and not a single drop. I swear to god, this is way worse than Lizzy.

I never even realized how many masochist's are on the Lodestone forums until this morning, HOLY FUCK! is that bad. There is something wrong with you if you're all smoke and mirrors thinking all is fine. The game is clearly on its long road to recovery but people actually like so much thats really bad and things about the game that has brought the game to where its at currently, that fucking blows my mind.

This is what me and Shuichi are doing now. While I would have preferred to wait for the new battle system to be implemented, playing with a new character now has been a pretty pleasant experience. We are about to hit Rank 20 now and will start looking for similiar ranked people to start hunting these monsters. Reminds me of the Swift Belt and Soboro runs.

I watched a rank 30-35 group fight against the crab NM. They kept on getting one shot'd whenever the NM used the TP move, and at some point it looked like they were just zombying.

The NM was unclaimed for most of the battle too (not sure how that happened, they had people hitting it all of the time).
