& Crash Bandicoot.
I don't know about ya'll, but I've never had or even heard of any ps360 HD failing between myself or any of my friends. I'm assuming it happens but it's not even a big cost/risk factor.
I doubt it. A 16GB MicroSD card is what, $25-30 retail right now? Embedding an 8GB chip on the board probably costs them very little. If you account for the mechanism in general, plus making space for it in the device, a HDD is probably a lot more costly.
That said, it's not like a 20GB drive is inherently cheaper than a much larger HDD. The smallest drives on the market just tend to be a single side of a single platter. Seagate just showed a 3.5" drive with 1TB per platter.
Far as replaceable - they do mention that SD cards will still be usable. While they're likely too expensive for consideration yet, 64GB SD cards do exist. By the time the console is released, maybe they'll be a more realistic option.
8GB sounds like an alright size for the 'arcade' version of the system. They could release different models with different HDD sizes/types. But yeah, they aren't aiming for the hardcore market if they only have 8GB. Not asking for enough room to install the games, but 60GB should be fine for DLC across a long period of time. No idea why nintendo thinks this is ok.
Well E3 is thankfully not far away, I'm very curious how they plan on catering to the hardcore market a little more this time around. Apparently they think they got something that will do it, even though the evidence so far points that they don't...
Does the Wii have some sort of online community like PSN(lol) / Xbox Live? Never see any major co-op / online games get ported / pushed to the Wii
There's no community like that, but there was online in some of the games. I never got into Brawl's online because of how awful it was at first (dunno if it has improved since then), but when it came out it had online. Mario Kart had pretty good online, was pretty disappointed that Brawl's was so lacking after spending the summer playing Kart. I never played Monster Hunter, but I think that had a pretty good community as well. There was no built in, always logged in aspect though like there is with PSN and Xbox Live, so there was no way for a community to develop outside specific games. The retarded friends code system certainly didn't help either..
Hopefully that'll change this next generation though. Sounds like they admit it was one of their problems with the Wii..

Friend codes were always a bad idea, I'm surprised after all these years Nintendo hasn't ditched it for a less archaic system
that decision alone will make or break nintendo's next console. friend code = it will fail. 100% chance.
Fail for everyone but casuals. Not sure how retail is going to be in 2012, but rest assured there are PLENTY of casuals/zombies out there who don't even know their Wii has wi-fi built in(and won't care if Wii2/Cafe has it either)
problem is they have a wii, they wont buy an upgrade just cause it has hd, they werent buying games before, they arent going to just become customers on every generation of crap that gets thrown out.
I had a woman tell me on Tuesday that the people in her retirement home were getting bored with sports resort. She ended up picking up Wheel of Fortune for the Wii.
