They already did it for select GameCube titles on Wii (well, with 480p/widescreen support anyway), and the whole "HD Remastered" crap that's coming out on 360/PS3 (mostly PS3) seems to be catching on, so I wouldn't see why Nintendo wouldn't bother (or at least 3rd parties) with releasing the game again but with slight touch-ups for 720p.
You hit what I thought on the head...
The Wii is a social console. Get a few friends over, get drunk, play a little Wii and have fun. But its not a console I ever would turn on to play a "real game". If Nintendo continues to control their console like Apple controls all of its shit, the console will fail once again. The last thing we need is another "white bread" "mid-american house wife" safe game console. Get some third party support, let them do whatever they want and hit the console's potential instead of giving us no grit and only the typical "we promise a new Zelda, a new Mario and a new Metroid game soon!"
3 gamecubes taped together, voice controlled. Launch lineup:
nintendogs
pilotwings
golf something
sports party game
ubisoft will shit something out
whatever happened to that pulse reader shit...
I can't wait to see another ported Ocarina of Time on this new system.
Talking about this with roommates, we figure they pretty much have to use DirectX 11 compatible hardware this time around if they wanna make it a traditional console. Not putting it in would be suicide, they aren't gonna release another new console 2 years after this one to compete with ps4/xbox 1080 (or w/e). That unreal engine concept trailer that highlights the future of what games will look like is what this thing should be capable of.
lol nope. That was running on 3x GTX 580's, that's $1500 on GPU's alone. I doubt you'll see that in consoles until at least the generation after the one coming. Not hyped for Nintendo's new console after being incredibly disappointed with the Wii. Show me you guys are going to aim towards the non-casual market then maybe I'll get interested. And no gimmicky motion shit as the standard control system, please. Also, lol @ people hoping it's as good as 360/PS3. If they release a console that is only on par or slightly stronger than the current HD consoles that have 5-6 year old hardware in them, then prepare to get steamrolled in performance once Sony and Microsoft release their next consoles.
well shit.
regardless, it would be a stupid move to aim for an HD console and have it be weaker than whats out there right now. Regardless of what they do, Sony will just come along later and do the same thing, just with more power (like sony could ever come up with something original), and Microsoft will follow suit with something that looks cool. At least we don't need to worry about Nintendo pushing 3D for a market that isn't ready for it yet (they said last year 3D consoles are a no-no til a lot of people actually have TVs for it).
Incoming Virtual Boy 2. You heard it here first!
Even if they manage to release a new sys, what games will they offer? The same pieces of shit they've been feeding the fanboys for the last 20 years? Also, good luck getting the support from devs, they've been ignoring them since the snes era.
Couldn't give a fuck. This is too little too late imho.
Hopefully Nintendo creates a console that competes with the PS3 and Xbox, and it'll drive Sony and Microsoft to create a "next gen" console.
This is the only reason why I'm very excite.
Nintendo might as well say they're creating new hardware for the next Zelda, Mario, Mario Party, Metroid, Smash game. Developers will be hesitant to take them seriously and Nintendo will continue to cater to the Hello Kirby Island Adventure demographic while completely refusing to support any serious game.
Don't understand why Nintendo making a "new" console that will "rival" the performance/power of the SIX year old PS3/360 isn't considered auto-fail. Without any 3rd party support their software line up will once again be garbage and gimmicky/casual and within a couple years will again be the bottom of the barrel when Microsoft and Sony release their new consoles. I'll throw my money at the NGP and wait for the real consoles to be released.
