I still feel like you have not experienced the system completely.

Here's a full list of every game I've played, beaten, and rated for the Wii. Some are more biased than others since I am a fan boy of certain games. But for the most part that is my entire library.

and its not like RAM is expensive anyway so that shouldn't be a problem anymore. seems like they are trying to do what Serra said about gamecube-advance compatibility but actually making it the main feature? seems kind of a big step

I can only see the GCN-GBA idea only working for multiplayer games, as the idea was to remove menu clutter or the screen-sharing business with the GBA screens, it'd be just a gimmick imo for single-player affairs, as I'd rather keep my eyes on the TV without having to glance down at the controller for whatever the heck the game is using it for.

Sad part is that the cntrollers will probably be no less expensive than buying the GBA+Adapters to begin with if there really will be a touch screen built into the controller. Was bad enough buying 3x Remotes + Nunchuks & 1 ClassicController for my Wii.

    Your list reminded me of Zach and Wiki -- how many years ago was that.. man... Remembering it being really fun, and letting a friend borrow it.. now I can't find it so gonna assume said friend still has it >.>;

Also, no New Super Mario Bros and Other M a 4 Star?

The reason why the new SMB isn't on there is because It came with my red Wii and I just keep forgetting to copy it to the HDD. lol

Also the Other M, I had mixed reviews for it (as many, many people did). To me a 5 star game comes off as a complete amazing piece of work, while 4 star is great (must play). Just not OMGZZZZGOTYAY etc.

But yes, Zack & Wiki is fun times. Reminds me a lot of Jak & Dax.

I also have a list for every other system also lol. I tend to have a lot of extra spare time on hand for game backlogs.

Have we already ruled out the possibility of this being like an iPad, where it's not exactly a handheld, but not a full fledged notebook either, but you can play games and shit on it?

I could see Nintendo going for that type of market, and physical controls alongside touch functionality would be nice on a 6" screen.

Microsoft And Sony Targeting 2014 For New Consoles, Leaving Nintendo In The Clear

The next Xbox and the next PlayStation won't be released until 2014, if Microsoft and Sony have their way, industry sources tell Kotaku.

Both companies are hoping to wait out the current generation, and extending an already elongated console life-cycle despite clear signs that Nintendo will launch its next machine by the end of 2012.

"Both MS and Sony are telegraphing to each other that they're delaying, to milk the current [generation] and fill in previous craters better," one insider who has worked with the first-party companies like Sony and Microsoft told us.

Other sources with access to first-party companies, speaking to Kotaku anonymously because they aren't authorized to be talking about Microsoft and Sony's plans, said that they too are hearing that 2014 is the target date, though some believe 2013 could happen if either company feels pushed.

Our insider believes that any new Xbox in 2013 would only be a Kinect-upgraded 360, not the next-gen console that would come in 2014. That source says that Microsoft doesn't even know what parts will be in the next Xbox. They say the company's board "is wrestling with whether to be profitable on day one," as Nintendo's Wii was presumed to be, or to once again launch a new console at a loss, which is what Sony and Microsoft usually do.

A wait for a new Xbox or PlayStation until 2014 would make the Xbox 360 the lead Microsoft gaming console for nine years and the PlayStation 3 Sony's chief console for eight. That would be an unusually long time for successful game consoles to retain their importance.

I think that's a smart move. I still don't really know what a supposed "next gen system" can do for gaming that can't already be done. But them waiting to see what Nintendo is bringing to table will allow them to +1 it essentially. I'd also assume Xbox Kinect and PS3 Move to be compatible w/the new systems

Depends I guess. There's plenty that could be done better, such as having native 1080p rendering for all games (much less doing so in 3D), higher frame rates, and so on. Things I doubt Nintendo is going to shoot for.

While possible for most already, I think a bigger shift we're going to see is basically the console makers try and emulate Apple. It's not really next-gen, or even beneficial to the consumer, but seeing how Apple rakes in money hand over fist, I'd think that's where their focus is going to be. While iOS, Android, etc fight over the mobile/portable space, consoles are still (at least currently) duking it out for the living room space. Meanwhile, every other device is bundling in streaming/media playback and so on. IMO, the next generation for MS/Sony will try to step up and be the one central device for the living room. Where, say, a smartphone supplanted a cell phone, PDA, MP3 player, portable video player (not that many had 'em), gaming device, digital camera/video camera, etc...they'll probably shoot for being a pseudo HTPC tied to a marketplace.

There's going to come a point where production costs to develop games that utilize anything near what "next gen" is going to be outweigh profits turned at our current $49.99 pricing trend without going full-bore DLC/micro-transactions/etc model.

I'm predicting things will go downhill around then.

From that standpoint, things are going downhill now.

Changing the distribution model somewhat might serve to offset that - if games are being published directly to PSN or MS Live, for example, then you cut out (potentially) a publishing house, retail distribution, and so on. It becomes like the App Store or Android Marketplace.

The other thing I consider is that the most expensive games still pale next to the most expensive movies. Yet a DVD or Blu-Ray of them is relatively cheap next to games, in part due to a much wider audience. If games, for whatever reason, can reach that level of mass-appeal...then the increased sales should allow for larger budgets.

It's been happening for a while. Games are more expensive now then they were for previous generations. While there is no "next gen" for PC games, they have also gone up in price as tech gets better and better. Seeing games cost 90-100$ isn't gonna be a big surprise.

@ Isiolia: I agree about the 3d comment. To make 3d stuff truely impressive console games need to be able to exceed that 60fps mark. While it looks fine and all, in 3D you can see the slow down since a 60fps game essentially becomes a 30fps. But, then again, 3D, from a consumer perspective, has been a pretty big flop overall. I don't think it will be anything more than a gimmick. It's one thing for movies, but for at home use I just can't see it ever being big enough for a company to want to focus on that aspect of games

n64 games were $60-$70, games arent costing more than they ever have. just people got used to last generations $50 price. however, cost of what it takes to be recognized in this generation has gone up substantially.

    Info on new console hardware

Additionally, IGN has learned that the system will be based on a revamped version of AMD's R700 GPU architecture, not AMD's Fusion technology as previously believed, which will, as previously reported, out perform the PlayStation 3's NVIDIA 7800GTX-based processor. Like the Xbox 360, the system's CPU will be a custom-built triple-core IBM PowerPC chipset, but the clocking speeds will be faster. The system will support 1080p output with the potential for stereoscopic 3D as well, though it has not been determined whether that will be a staple feature.

Games have gone down in cost considerably. People always seem to forget how much SNES and NES games cost, and how much more expensive that actually was at the time. They dropped in the PS2 era to all time lows because of the low cost to produce the discs they were pressed on, and they're coming back up because of the cost of new media formats. They're anything but the most expensive they've ever been though.
