GW2 for me. So much innovation its hard not to get on board. And can't beat free.

I am still on the shelf over GW2. Like you said, such a pretty game and its level of attempt to innovate is hard to not get on board. But then I see stuff like Aion's release of more minor "single character only" cosmetic items today. This is another NCSoft game that is a subscription based game and they have a cash shop selling cosmetics for 9.99$ per character. What are they going to do with a f2p gameshop?

GW2 for me, no question. Don't know jack about TERA so maybe I'll educate myself, although every Korean MMO has sucked in the past so they will have a massive hurdle to get over if they want to stand a chance against some of the big guys in the U.S.

My thoughts exactly. I've played a number of Korean MMOs, and none of them have been my cup of tea. I see no reason why this will be any different. Gamers overseas simply have a different idea of what a good MMO is... Which is fine, if you like to grind. Some people do. I definitely do not though.

At least with GWs, you know where ArenaNet stands.

I don't understand how Tera online is not beating The older republic with all of biowares awesome background with their awesome games. (although I will admit dragon age 2 was weaker than dragon age 1 probably due to it being a funding source for old republic imo.)

Anyone want to give some insight as why tera online has more votes? Might be something I'm interested in playing, but I was set on old republic after 14 <_<.

side note: (Could just be the demographic of the forums too wonder is there similar polls for comparisons sake?)

I know that TOR lost my interest, and the interest of a lot of my friends when it was shown to have a Tank/Healer/DPS system like every other MMO these days it seems. We're tired of WoW style MMO where the tank stands there and gets beat on while you spam heals on him and try and kill the boss before he dies. I know TERA uses the same class types, but the combat has a completely different feel to it, and it at least FEELS like they are trying to do something different.

I really liked the way Combat worked in Star Wars Galaxies, Tanks and crap don't belong in the Star Wars Universe. I guess people just want to generally move away from the standard MMO archtype and try something else. There's nothing innovative about ToR, and as someone who sat like a puppy waiting for every treat they were throwing us back in the day, ever since I saw the gamplay video on the ship where the narrator was like "This is the tank, the jedi is the hea...." *turned it off* Boring. I haven't looked at any information on it since, because I completely lost interest in it.

If Guild Wars 2 is free, I'll pick it up definitely. I still play Guild Wars till this day, some of the best money I've ever spent.

^ This. Aion put a bad taste in ppl's mouth in thinking Westernized Korean games = NCsoft. NCsoft didn't know how to Westernize Aion. TERA's Western publishers are supposed to be different and are changing more stuff then just Elin's outfits (lol) and translating stuff

No they aren't. TERA is an Eastern style game release in Korea, which is where most of the controversy over there is about. Aion is Korean style MMO released in Korea, which had to be westernized for us. There are a few things that they could change, yeah, but for anyone who has played the game throughout end-game, it's more WoW style than it is Aion style. Actually, it's more NA friendly from get-go, not just end-game.

And I think Nama's comment about NCS was towards GW2, which seems to like money more than they do customers. We know, GW2 has 'nothing' to do with NCS. ^.~

I don't really know what GW2 is even doing there, are people just content with the fact that MMO's are at best one month endeavours at this point? I'd still like to pick an MMO and play it for a long time instead of hopping from one game to another all the time.

If they launched with more than a months' worth of content it wouldn't be such a problem. DCU was apparently really fucking short and easy to hit the cap on to grind the instances, and FFXIV had barely any content to do outside of grinding. I can't speak for TERA though.

Yeah I just mean, what reason do they have to do that? As long as they can make you buy their expansions it doesn't really matter how much you play after making the initial purchase.. and from what I've seen the game is built up that way as well. It's a perfect candidate for "playing something on the side" (like GW1) however.
