This argument is laughable, FFXIV shouldn't even be included in any serious conversation about the future of MMOs. Its a symbol of what NOT to do on all aspects of game developing. Its approach on the MMO genre and how it should function is completely regressive.

SE can keep their players completely satisfied, it seems, by simply making more promises and superficial changes to their game; with major monthly updates consisting of (maybe) a week's worth of patches for any normal MMO betas. Inexcusable.

Its been said before, but the only people sticking with this "game" are masochists and fanboys who will never falter. Anyone who enjoys aspects of an MMO that doesn't require stupid-long grind sessions of limited interaction with their characters/environment or archaic game designs of rush-down mobs, elementary questing and character progression = wouldn't give that shit the time of day.

No serious buyer is going to give a shit if FFXIV is released on the PS3, even with the functionality equal to WoW(even this is a tall order for SE) because it will never standout to earn back those lost subs(nevermind any new subs). Why would you play a Lineage/WoW hybrid over future MMOs that offer refreshing, new ideas on a stale genre? You wouldn't.

After looking more into TERA over the last few days, I'm even more excited about trying it. PSO2 has always been on my radar, too. The nostalgia from Dreamcast's golden days is too strong to ignore lol

Nice try, but it has nothing to do with that. I'm simply happy to prove you and Hyan wrong. Why? Because being right is fun, and showing how fucking retarded both of you were (and still are) is a nice bonus.

What he does while waiting for the game to get good doesn't matter. All that matter is the end result that will determine who made the right prediction.

I seriously doubt I did, but if you indeed played less, rofl...How can you defend design flaws that you never experienced? But then, talking out of your ass sound just like you.

Playing FFXIV was an experience that couldn't be matched by any other games. I'm spending most of my life studying, and trying to find why this game is so fucking terrible was almost fun...until level 30 that's it. The time invested after that was simply not worth it.

Awesome progression to this thread. Scattered opinions> Tera Defense Squad> XIV circle jerk.

Also I agree with the sentiment that maybe ArcheAge shoulda been on there somewhere. Even if it's the darkhorse, there's some pretty cool environmental interaction going on there with decent potential.

Archage look amazing, but the release date is pretty far away compared to other games on that list (except maybe wow next expansion).

I can't wait to try it, it's everything I wanted to see in a mmo (in theory)...I just hope it wont be too grindy.

Can this thread not be able how good XIV will or will not be in the future? There is already an entire forum section devoted to that

As much as I am for any of these MMOs, if Phantasy Star Online 2 gets done right, no cheating, etc, I'd probably spend another couple thousand hours of my life on there.

I don't think I even played FFXI as much as I did between the PSO games.

    ^this

PSO was the only other game that i spent countless hours on besides XI, not even WoW comes close to that amount of time. I really hope PSO2 succeeds.

Same. Well, minus the comment about XI, I'm pretty sure I sunk more hours/days/months/years into XI than I'd ever like to put down to a concrete number.

I think the fact that FFXIV has more points than GW2 is kind of disgusting.

^FFXI/FFXIV forums. I don't expect XIV or XI to lose to anything by the time this forum dies out due it simply being BG, but I'm quite surprised people are more for XIV than they are for XI.

I'm more surprised that XI is holding up as something to look forward to, what with SE promising new content through mid 2012 at least. XIV's base is simply looking forward to something they deserved when they paid full retail for it seven months ago.

This is an XI/XIV forum, it's no surprise they are both up there. Even if XI/XIV is only a fraction of this forums traffic now-a-days, it's still the main thing that has brought ppl here.

I was super stoked about GW2 at first, then I saw some rogue/thief gameplay video and the gameplay didn't look too great to me. Especially since there's no dedicated healing classes or anything like that.

I did like the idea that random stuff happens out in the field, dynamic quests or w/e. Sounded cool.

I'll probably try it out if they have a beta or something, but I probably won't pay $50-60 if they don't have a public preview.

Either way Skyrim will probably scratch any adventuring itch that GW2 gives me.

That's the best part of the game right there.

It'll be like playing Borderlands in an MMO. Second wind and all.

I don't know if I would like that, I generally play support classes/jobs. Like I said though, I'm perfectly willing to give it a try if they offer some sort of preview.

    Also, I hated borderlands.
