Game that needs a remake like no other, it has some epic scenes (the mech picking up that ship and throwing it, anything with Id, etc.) but it looks ridiculously funny when you watch it on Ps1

The story was so fucking awful. They just need to bring back the button combo combat system and that badass mech-duel minigame. If they remade it today, it'd be even more painfully melodramatic and fucking retarded than it was back then. Can you imagine the level of brooding going on? It would make FF13 look like the pinnacle of subtlety. If they bring it back in some type of real-time, progressive, liberal combo system deal, yes. If they bring it back in boring-assed, conservative, Republican, old white guy, turn-based fashion, no.

Also the mech-duel mini-game should be a separate, strictly online deal kinda like Assassin's Creed Brotherhood only so I don't have to sit through that shit again because all I did was space and button mash.

everything about the second one made me want to kill myself, I don't know wtf they were thinking with a lot of that shit. (Momo's voice made me want to stab my ears with a fork).

I never played 3rd but ya I hear it's good. Did they ever come up with an anime version of 2? I played maybe 20 hours of it and gave up, but would like to see it story wise so if I play 3 I know wtf is going on.

I always found it amusing how I ended up playing the Xenosaga games because it simply seemed so strange. I remember a couple of years ago, I had just bought a PS2 (I only had a Gamecube at the time so the PS2 was quite the treat) and was hungry to play any game on it I could. I bought the PS2 with Final Fantasy X and played that for the third time (had beaten two times prior on a friends PS2.) After beating it I basically had nothing else to do so I decided to go to Blockbuster to see what games they had on the PS2.

The Blockbuster near my house must have been absolute crap because when I went there, they barely had any PS2 games and most were initial launch titles and all that bullcrap. By some stroke of luck, I managed to see the box for Xenosaga II. I heard about the game a while back from a friend (It was only later I found out he was talking about the first game) so I decided why not and rented it. First time I played it I honestly thought it was OK. The game definitely had a lot of crap that bogged it down but overall, I thought it was a decent game. The story obviously drew me in the most.

A year later I went to Gamestop and saw they had Xenosaga I used for $15.00. I was all like "shit yeah, i'm getting that" and bought it. Got home played it. It was quite the fucking change from the second game and was just so much better overall. The voice actors were better in this one and I fucking finally got to understand what the bloody fuck was going on with the story since I played the second one first. This shit was fucking great, I couldn't put the controller down. It was Xenosaga whenever I got the chance and HOLY FUCKING SHIT THIS BATTLE SYSTEM IS SO AWESOME FUCKING KOS-MOS, ZIGGY AND MOMO ALL DAY, EVERYDAY.

Looking back on all this now, the second game really did drop the ball in comparison to the first game but I still have a soft spot for it if only because it was my introduction to the series. Xenosaga III was better than part II and on several occasions would recapture the glory of the first game.

I have yet to play Xenogears.
