This, sounds like the cops are dicking you around. You even have them admitting to the theft. I think this would be classified as larceny? Sounds like you might have a bigger story if the cops are maybe purposely misclassified it as a civil matter rather than theft. I could be wrong though just going based on what I'm learning in my fraud examination class and what I retained in my business law <_<
Also I'm pretty sure if a cop testified for you the defendant's lawyer would claim it as heresay and his testimony would be disregarded. (At least that's what a youtube video told me)
Hearsay isn't an issue. Before we actually called 911, we called 311(Non-Emergency Number) and they also told us that it was a civil matter. I guess in Texas, "crimes" are less aptly defined.
Also, is it allowed for a company to claim business in Nevada when their only shop is in Texas?
How do you report a company to the Better Business Bureau?
You're not rich, expecting protection under the law is silly.
but he drives a mercedes bro
edit: isladar what type of business does your step father run? ( I was gonna ask the name of it but then I realized that's probably too personal to give away. I lives in Chicago and go to school in Peoria. Does he has any accounting or internal auditing internship opportunities? Yea I know I'm desperate, I has a decent resume though <_<)
It is a used book business in the western suburbs and we have two paid employees outside of my stepfather and mother (who is the accountant). It's a very, very small business, so unfortunately there's no such availability.
Are you interested in accounting internships at large companies? I know high-level people in accounting at United Airlines and the Chicago Bears if this is something you are interested in. I can check to see if summer internship positions have been filled yet.
Edit: Err, nevermind. They've already filled their openings like a month ago.
