It all depends on state law, and the type of citation you received by the officer. Here in MA, if you recede a fine that requires a court appearance...and you ignore it, or don't pay the fine; then your license will be suspended and you will be arrested.

If you receive a fine that does NOT require a court appearance, and you do not pay the fine...then the state will put a hold on all license/car transactions. Your license will not be suspended, and there will be no warrant for your arrest. You will just not be able to renew your license or registration.

Then you drive without a valid license, thus making your insurance void, thus requiring a ticket that requires a court appearance that you fail to show up to. Then....JAIL TIME BITCHES!

Your license would only be invalid, if you let it expire. Then when you try to renew it, the DMV will not allow it until your fine is paid off. This state also does the same for state taxes.....if you don't pay off any overdue state taxes, then you will not be able to renew your license either.

Example would be (true example actually)...I have a speeding ticket that I have not paid off yet. It's over due, so I got a letter stating that my license and registration is now non-renewable (still valid however). So when I go in November to renew my registration, I will need to pay off the citation w/fees before I can renew.

The above reference was for tickets not requiring a court appearance.

For tickets you ignore that did require a court appearance....then your license will be suspended once the DMV gets the notice from the court. Which is usually a week after your court date.

If you have warrants out for you, you will be arrested when pulled over. Your ticket is a summons to appear in court. You either pay, or go to court. Don't go to court, and you get a warrant. Get a warrant, go to jail when pulled over.

Just pay your ticket.
