Yep, unfortunately nothing in this game measures up to the accomplishment of actually downing a King Behemoth your bot claimed for you.

The sad is that you consider HNM claim as accomplishment. Unless you make bots yourself and it's a challenge for you to make best claiming bot. Now even if easy the reward system is much more justice. If you think pop conditions in 2006 were better then now I'm happy you wont come back..
Also how much this game is a challenge is only your choice. Most things can be done with lower and lower resources till the point they starting to be challenging. It's like in RL when you can for example go up on stairs on feet and it's easy or use hands to go up and make it challenging or be fat like you probably are or be on diet and try to keep yourself in form![]()
I'd agree with you if the kings weren't easily defeatable with an LS full of RMT retards (and let's be honest, we've all seen these LSs slowly and painfully take these monsters down).
Never said anything about challenge. Also never said anything about claim = accomplishment. The reward was the accomplishment. I enjoyed having things few did. I had no problem with Einherjar for example because it still kept the best gear out of the reach of shit tiered players. Now everything is 100% identical and there's no excuses for not having 100% of the best gear out there. Where's the fun in that?
As someone who has not yet gotten their Black Belt, this was my reaction to the announcement:
Woo-hoo! Awesome! Took long enough, but finally! Yay! /happyTrigger conditions for following notorious monsters will be adjusted to spawn by trading specific items to the “???” in the respective area.
Fafnir / Nidhogg: Dragon’s Aery
Behemoth / King Behemoth: Behemoth’s Dominion
Adamantoise / Aspidochelone: Valley of Sorrows
Meh, was hoping from something that didn't require me to burn all my KS, but wtf else am I gonna use them for, and this does prevent the issue of fighting for claim over something that drops the spawn items. Ok, fine I guess. How to obtain the trigger items:
Fafnir: Treasure from “Early Bird Catches the Wyrm”
Behemoth: Treasure from “Horns of War”
Adamantoise: Treasure from “The Hills are Alive”
* At least one of these items will be dropped in every battle.
Nidhogg: Treasure dropped by Fafnir
King Behemoth: Treasure dropped by Behemoth
Aspidochelone: Treasure dropped by Adamantoise
Wut?The treasures dropped by the following notorious monsters will be adjusted as follows:
Fafnir : Wyrm Beard removed
Nidhogg : Drop rate of Wyrm Beard decreased
Behemoth : Behemoth Tongue removed
King Behemoth : Drop rate of Behemoth Tongue decreased
Adamantoise : Adamantoise Egg removed
Aspidochelone : Drop rate of Adamantoise Egg decreased
Are you fucking kidding me? Why on earth did they need to fuck with the drop rates? Because, you know damn well that in typical SE fashion, "Drop rate decreased" means it'll be like a fucking 5% drop rate. Hell, anything less than about 50% would be complete fucking crap.
I suppose there's always the chance that it really is like a 50% drop rate from the HQ NMs, and provided there's still the chance to get it from the KSNM itself, I guess that wouldn't be totally awful. But really, this is just fucking dumb. Because keeping it 100% on the HQ NMs would have really been that game-breaking?
Anyone that did the prepatch relic trials should have a ton of KSs. Personally I liked camping kings, I got a lot done between windows. The days when we claimed NH,KB,Aspi,Cerb,Khim DI,SW and Tia were so much fun. Spamming people around the world to cover, hold and claim. There is nothing left in the game that requires multiple flee boots to race to. Players that never got to experience hardcore HNM wouldnt relate but it was much more intense then anything left.
It's easy enough to say this, looking at the content from the outside. But in all honestly, only the players who are worth a damn (read: Still like 5% of the total playerbase) are actually mastering the content. The other 95% either still manage to fuck up like they always did, or sit back and cry about how "Easy" the content is when they haven't even bought the add-ons.
The content is easy. It can definitely be full-cleared pretty much solo if you have mules. But people are still fucking retarded, which will always work as a natural way to maintain some semblance of hierarchy for all that it matters.
On my way to class so I didn't read the whole thread, but, this idea was suggested and praised when people used to bot the hell out of NMs. But now that the only drops worth snagging are D.Ring and BB itmes and no one camped Kings anyway, it seems like a bit of a nerf. Unless we start getting KS from higher level mobs or can trade Crests down for KS.
Am I understanding right? It's possible that Wyrm pops can be dropped in Behe or Adaman too and vice versa?* At least one of these items will be dropped in every battle
There is still a lot gear in this game that very few have. If that's the only challenge for you in this game you can for example go do mythic axe and test it finallyUnless you mean items that are easy to get by you and hard to get by most ppl, like E body was when being in HNMLS with claimbot?
TBH I am finding fun in this game in many places. Starting from improving my skills and gear in many various way, following on lowmanning stuff and ending on trying new jobs/things,all that on top of conversation with friends ofc.
Meaning it can drop up to 1-3 or something?
If that is the case, then the drop rate on HQ pop from NQ will be equivalent to those in Abyss pop NMs that popped by trading pop item dropped by another NM, right? /speculation
I have about 1300 because of those, and my mules have 500/600 just because I never used them.
Also holy fucking shit at all the QQ in this thread, shut the fuck up. If they didn't change this then you'd all complain that camping kings is all about botting and afk'n for 3 hours and it's so god damn awful. And if they made the item to pop these drop from something easier then you'd all QQ about how it's way too easy to pop kings now.
I know everyone always has to whine when update notes come out but good fucking god this is excessive.
Shitty players are still shitty. Abyssea appears easy when you are really good at it with good gear/atma because you've essentially mastered the content, and the increases you are getting are non-trivial.
Old FFXI was all about trivial increases; spend months and months for a couple of % increase in damage here and there. Hell, do a relic and you might squeeze out 5% or so unless you have an amazing relic. Nowadays, almost every drop is like getting Haidate. Empyreans are actually SIGNIFICANTLY better and really feel like incredible weapons, not just AH +2. Abyssea does become a lot easier when you have incredible gear, which is how it really should be. Your accomplishments should make you a lot stronger - there should be a wide chasm between someone with perfect gear and someone with mediocre gear, which barely existed in old FFXI. The difference between an AH DD and an endgame DD was relatively small unless we talk about Haste pieces (Homam legs, Haidate).
The people who also have Empyreans/full AF3+2 sets etc are those with great organisation/killing skills. It's not nearly as widespread as people make it out to be. FFXI is currently actually rewarding proactive players with initiative and lowmanning skills. This was rewarded before also, but not on such a wide scale. The only difference is you can't cockblock people so much anymore and everyone has the same opportunity at getting a specific piece of gear. Most people still won't get this top tier equipment.
I don't think Abyssea is perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I do think it's much better than old FFXI, where the best gear was handed out essentially to the victor of a coin toss/dice roll.
^ 100% true
Kings were not related to accomplishment in any way. They weren't so much a challenge as a lottery that required you to do nothing for a few hours and that usually ended in watching a mob turn purple. You got kings drops? You won the lottery. That's not an accomplishment.
You clearly have no idea what the game is even like anymore. Shit players are still shit players struggling to get even a single set of AF3+1. The difference is that there are no longer bullshit things like kings greatly restricting the number of people who are given access to content.Originally Posted by Eanea

Curious to see how Linkshells will handle drops considering it's 1 person providing pop item(s).
