Best quote i've read so far though concerning the release of the car is from Autoblog that said: We all love the car, but by the time Toyota builds it they'll already have put the car through it's midcycle refresh. yep, appeared as the Toyota FT-86 a few years ago. Don't expect to see it anytime soon in the US market, but at least the Scion moniker means it probably will get released over here. Spiritual successor to the AE86 Corolla Levin.

Personally I'd rather see it released as a Toyota here, just because there is no sportscar in their lineup right now, it's all just so....BEIGE.

If they had gone with the original concept you figure that maybe the car would already be in early stages of production. There's no real promise the car will ever be built with how many different concepts they've released. You wonder how desperate they are to inject life into the brand that they are over-designing the car to get it perfect.

After the most difficult gestation since someone decided "Spiderman" needed to be a musical, the Scion FR-S Concept finally appeared at the New York Auto Show, carrying the hopes for a true compact rear-wheel-drive sports car — actually coated in candy.

The latest iteration of the Toyota-Subaru joint venture known as the FT-86 appeared with a body that makes a pledge to uphold Toyota chief Akio Toyoda's pledge to put some passion back into the company's vehicles. Blunt, smooth and compact, yet with the long hood of a proper rear-wheel-drive car, the FR-S should easily be the most handsome Scion ever when a production version appears within a year.

Originally they'd announced it as a joint project, with Subaru having a version of the coupe as well. Would have been nice to offset only showing the new base Impreza, no WRX or STi.

Goal was for the toyota version to start at a sub 30k MSRP with the Subaru version eventually coming in STI level trim with AWD for around 35~. But again who really knows. At least subaru isn't being such a dicktease with their version until it's actually ready.

Been waiting years for the 2 door coupe impreza to come over to the states (Like many others waiting for the 22B), but this might be the closest thing anytime soon...
