The only reason I generally don't find him hilarious anymore is because I don't recognize most of the material being parodied.

I feel like he peaked at Amish Paradise, but I'd have to agree with Kerb about just being too out of touch to appreciate him nearly as much these days.

I still love Weird Al. He's a master of his craft. A lot more than you can say about these auto-tune assclowns who are just there to make the record companies a paycheck before they're recycled for the next one-hit wonder.

One-hit wonders used to be looked down upon in music. Now they're cherished as cash cows until they force them out the door for the next one. Jonas who? Exactly.

This. I've never kept up to date, but when I hear a Weird Al song and actually know the song hes making fun of, its hilarious. Even when I don't, the lyrics are often amusing.

What you have grown out of is listening to top-40 songs. Satirists don't make their bones aping the obscure.

'Trapped in the Drive thru' was awesome if only because it made me go watch "trapped in the closet" on youtube, which made that episode of southpark so much more funny. I didn't realize they were making fun of him directly with the "And I pulled out my GUN", I thought it was something he'd said on an interview or something stupid.

He got John K to do one of his music video's and put it on the last disc. What's not to love?

I could agree with this from a pop-music media standpoint. Amish Paradise was also the height of MTV playing videos, and it got a ton of plays. It also helped Al that Coolio had that public feud with him over the supposed misunderstanding about granting permission to use the song.

But Weird Al is a freaking genius, both intellectually and creatively. I agree with Kerb in that I don't recognize most of what he's parodied over the last two albums or so.

Theoretically this is why every artist should approve his parodies, it's additional exposure for the original artist/song.

and I guess smells like nirvana was about them but... a little different than this heh
I'm nowhere near a fan of anything mainstream or pop but this was fucking amazing if you were old enough to experience it and understand it 12 years ago.

I wasn't quite savvy enough then, but I more or less get it now.

I'm afraid to admit I did some parodies of my own of some songs back in the day, one for a class project, even. One was around the time Ricky Martin was popular with La Vida Loca. Our school owned this nature rec center our football team got shipped off to for a week for pre-season where my resulting parody was called "Livin' la Vida LOC...uh?" since LOC was what they called the place. Wound up being a mix of slamming the place and commentary on basically living with your 4 different years of your class/teammates for a week.

Probably my favorite part of it: "They'll make you take your clothes and go shower with the gang, and once you've seen a lineman's ass well you'd never be the same (like you got speared in the brain, that hurts!)"

Yeah, I find it interesting he mentions not feeding the trolls, and this was back in what 98 or 99? I honestly don't remember hearing the term trolls applied to the internet until like early-mid 0X.

Also, that short haired black chick is freaking hot.

That was back when "trolling" implied purposeful effort, not "durhur I troll u".

lol, nice by Gaga, what a dumb bitch. Like I needed another reason to think less her.

This should give Weird Al a lot more publicity at least, the man truly deserves it :D.

People are spoiled on retards. They've forgotten what intelligent satire (or people) is/are like.
