Wonder if Lv99 relics will be on top again. WS's would need a huge dmg boost
I know the numbers were blind picks, but that's a 50% increase on ws damage, which should make up at least 60% of you total damage.... so yea being 30% behind top DD makes it weak. I think the update helps a lot of drks, I just don't feel it helps me much. I'm still happy that the update was way more respectable... last update we got tactical parry. Heres to hoping for some additional changes to drk for future adjustments. Sorry for the typos, I'm using my phone.
Don't get me wrong but numbers of DRKs that have Apoc and are most of the time buffed with gjallahorn marches are probably less then I have fingers.
For everyone else even with 2 marches are going from 75% haste to 80% for 72% of the time which is 25% faster and that's huge gain. Not to mention at least +150 attack which maybe in abyssea is insignificant but outside is a huge gain too. Caladbolg might also aim for 6 hit build much easier especially if they add some good store tp equip with lack of haste.
That seems to be the purpose of the patch. By bumping up the average joe, you buff the class by increasing its overall reputation. The terrible DRKs will still be terrible and the elite will continue to understand the limitations of the class.
DRK was due to see a resurgence in popularity outside of Abyssea anyway. With jobs like DNC, THF and NIN seeing a dip in sheer broken-ness, the old 2handers would be back in style along with buffers like BRD and COR actually having vital purpose again. Abyssea was fun and all but some sense of balance would be nice again.
Im seeing some DRK talk about /WAR being back in vogue again but is that really wise with you know... MP pools being limited outside Abyssea. Im no DRK so idk but it sounds suicidal as fuck to me even with PDT/MDT sets. Seeing the first groups do Voidwatch and wipe cause of MP issues will be entertaining anyway.
Kirschy doesn't that just mean you can sing other songs besides march now though?
If you're in a party of homogenous DRKs synchronizing Last Resort use, sure. If you're in a group of mixed DDs, you'd be limiting the other jobs considerably.
Other songs besides march tend to not matter.
Yea, many drks will gain from this. I'm excited about the legitimate adjustment, I just wish it would do more to balance for the situations I find myself in often. That said there's plenty of future adjustment and 9 more levels of spells and ja to come.
I personally wont be using war sj anytime soon on drk but I do think that being able to stun constantly (for general utility or even just watching out for a painful ws/spell), greelow proc(this part is probably still useless but I see no reason not to speed up procs when i see an opportunity), use endark more consistently and defend myself with dread spikes without worrying about losing hasso temporarily or being stuck waiting on the timer to come back ever since the last time i used it is a nice little set of mini perks.
I think that means that the next set of drk updates is around august right? SE doesnt usually buff a job via adjustments twice in a row I think.
that's why I was talking to Kirschy because she said she always has a brd. You still need marches to reach the haste cap of 80%
I don't see why all the QQing. Yes, it wouldn't really help too much in high buff situation, but this is a benchmark that sets the job to a certain level in any given situation. Most ppl want a critical hit WS, I ask why? so you can use that WS instead of cata or torcleaver? doesn't this make your relic or empy practically useless? Certain buffs will always help certain style of playing but this adjustment generally buffs everyone. Even if you can't use the haste, the 80% of the time at 25% more attack is something most drks would welcome anyway. Don't fall into the trap of thinking you are capped on attack, with brd singing march march, you are likely going to be at around 800 attack give or take endark, and that's hardly going to cap you on anything meaningful. And if you are not getting march march, this becomes a huge buff, which pretty much evens the playing level outside of abyssea.
It will take a new JA or JT of some sort to take DRK to the level of war, drg, and sam under high buff situation due to the fact that all those jobs can gain TP faster with either DA, Jumps, or store TP when haste is capped, but this at least brings DRKs up there with them under no brd situations where DRK should at least be 15% higher in JA haste 80% of the time. I don't think SE is done with DRK yet, but this certainly is a big step in the right direction.
Problems are, LR is only up 3/4:10 minutes and there are other people in party.
I coulda done with a new Automaton WS for Stormwaker frame that overrides Magic Mortar. Been using Burattinaios on my lolPUP lately, gets annoying having him WS for 0dmg when the intention was to get him to Cure VI me instead. A shame there isn't another Inhibitor-style attachment that just plainly disables WS for pet.
On that subject, would still kill for SE to make the Ashu Talif attachments obtainable via other means, or at least nerf the difficulty on the first quest of the three so I can at least get that done without needing a blm army. That and improved skillups on Automaton. I swear it feels like they didn't adjust that at all when they did the last update. Ranged skill still 80 levels under, and melee 60.
XP loss change is nice I guess for subs, although they could have just dramatically lowered the penalty for 3-30 rather than just removing it entirely. Does anyone know why they chose 2.4k XP as the cap for loss btw? It's been that way since long before the 75-cap to my knowledge. Used to always be 10% XP loss of your level's total before you hit that cap.
I could drop a march while lr is active, but as was pointed out others in the party might suffer. In any sense we'll see how the adjustment plays out. Even with march x2 from relic brd you gain a bit of haste when lr goes up, and the extra attack for a longer time frame is nice. An increase is still an increase.
At first I thought these were kind of niche until I remembered theres no level increase yet. So I guess its decent.
Now if only they would decrease the number of killshot you need. Just sayin~
Last Resort is particularly interesting because I've read it was originally 180 seconds but it was nerfed after Warriors started complaining. Could this be the beginning of the undoing of Tanaka-era nerfs?
