Any idea what kind of update schedule this game will have? It is highly entertaining, but it seems to have limited replay value as far as exploring (if you like building shit, you're golden though). Once you've got all the shit from the dungeon, is there any reason to go back down there? Or the underground jungle?

Yeah, at the moment, once you've defeated all 3 bosses, and collected all of the Floating Island/Dungeon/Underground Jungle loot, as well as crafted Meteorite/Hellstone/Demonite crap and random mob-dropped/crafted items, you've experienced all the game has to give at the moment (unless of course you want to collect all the 20 or so different colored brick walls from randomly-generated dungeons and continue to build a massive castle/fortress/town/city).

Like Minecraft, the concept leaves endless possibilities in terms of additional areas/content/mobs/bosses/items/biomes/building/decoration/etc. I just hope they don't slow down to a fucking crawl on the content/fun addition like Mojang did. The problem is, the game is no longer beta and has officially released (with impressive sales). They don't have a ton of incentive to release much more significant content unless it's DLC.

Do those luminescent jungle plants regrow? I was hoping they could be gathered... I really want them to implement the Jungle Grass Seeds as I don't think I can handle trying to lead a line of mud all the way from my Underground Jungle to my basement for my own jungle room.

I just got my Glowing Mushroom farm set up... next is a Vile Mushroom farm, then a Eater of Souls farming ground, and a Meteor Head farming ground (for the hell of it). I'm not sure how far I have to space things out so Eater of Souls and Meteor Heads don't start popping up everywhere.

hellstone, like dungeon brick, is immune to explosives

I too cleared a space for mushroom trees to grow, but I've never seen one.

Yeah, I'm pretty certain now that they won't mature into the big, naturally-occurring mushrooms. Makes me sad. I'm going to preserve any more that I find now.

Is there a lot more to do in this than minecraft? I couldn't really get in the game since it seemed like all you did was build for eternity.

I have been itching to get this, but if all I do is build stuff I really don't think I could stick long in this.

Once you collect all the stuff there isnt much to do other than build. Rumor has it that this will change with future updates though. More biomes are supposed to be added along with bosses and other enemies. That also means more items and I'm sure more customization of building materials. Only time will tell though. For now the game is a good time waster. I enjoy screwing around in it with friends.

Maybe if I can group up it will be interesting. Minecraft just felt empty and nothing to really do.

I was admittedly pretty enthralled by Minecraft at first, but this game just resonates with me much more. Apart from being way more "finished," I am just more partial to side-scrolling/platforming/adventuring than the unnecessary 3-D (especially when it's done low-fi).

This game has a lot more hacking & slashing & jumping action than Minecraft could ever hope for and way more of a RPG/adventure feel, even as limited as the world currently is. The sheer amount of items, little treasure finds, and rare drops makes this addicting as hell. The only thing it needs besides simply more enemies/bosses/NPCs/items/materials/recipes/etc. (aka content) is some forced material progression. As it is, you can unfortunately bypass a lot of the wood>copper>iron>silver>gold progression since even the shittiest tools can get you straight down into the depths of hell and yield the best materials in the game to craft the best tools. I hope it was just a bad oversight and they'll restrict some of the lower-tier tools to only harvesting certain low-grade materials and additionally make the terrain generator a little more strategic so that you can't get ultra deep with a wooden pickaxe.

that's a good point but part of me wonders if they wanted to give you the freedom to either follow the recommended progression (which is what I did) or skip it completely. I am really interested in the stuff you build mioko, post some screenshots!

So the way I decided to go about things was a 4 block wide shaft down to the Underworld, with the left 2 blocks being the "express" which is a straight shot to the bottom, and the right 2 blocks is the "local" which stops one or two wooden platforms on the way. The only stop I have currently is a floor which happens to have glowing mushrooms already growing, and it's also the horizontal path to the Underground Jungle. I'm paving the whole path in mud currently, so that the glowing mushrooms coat the entire length of the walkway to the jungle. That way, I can slap on hermes boots and run with the muramasa out, making travel to the Jungle faster while allowing me to harvest massive amounts of mushrooms.

I will probably do a separate mushroom farming room at some point, but eh.

I don't really have any big building projects planned, mostly because I lack inspiration beyond decorating my house (which is more utilitarian). The only thing I will probably do is build a big Obsidian skull where my mineshaft entrance is, with glowing hellstone eyes

If you want some people to play with, message me on Steam. I'm usually on and I'm sure Ave wouldn't mind having someone else to encase in lava.

How do people have their castles set up to protect against mobs? Mine currently floats in the air and has a lava moat in front of the door. It catches 95% of mobs. However the goblin sorcs have killed a few NPCs because I couldn't get to them fast enough. I need a weapon that shoots through walls.

Interesting. Honestly I never tried. So what's your big secret to getting it w/o getting raped by the imps?

    go to the bottom of a dungeon, dig down from there. imps have no room to spawn for a bit but in the time i spent farming 893 ore there were no more than 2 imps up at a time. dig facing the imps and you won't take damage. pics when my new pc gets internet running(need to fix ethernet cable). my craptop crashes when i run terraria now so i was lucky to get that first guide thing out -_-;

I always panicked and tried to retaliate when I imps started spawning while I was trying to mine Hellstone, but after that mostly resulted in me getting killed, I learned that if there's only 1~3 imps, you can use the fasted pick you have and try to keep your character facing where the fireballs are coming from while continuing to mine. You'll stop almost all of the fireballs. A few might get through the tiny window of pick axe swinging but you'll also often get hearts from killing the fireballs to make up for it. I'd also recommend wearing as many Bands of Regeneration as you can if you're going to try and ignore them like that.

I usually just do that until one spawns nearby or on a flat surface I can quickly access and immediately try to take it out. However, if you have a Flamerang, Sunfury, or any other similarly strong and long-reaching weapon, you can kill them in like 2 hits without much trouble at all so you might as well just kill them quickly so you can get back to mining. I also noticed that mobs appeared to have stopped spawning altogether for me once I reached the very bottom of the world... although it may have just been a coincidence.

I'll post some screenshots after I remodel my main building. I hate it so much right now and the biggest hassle for me is moving all my full chests around. Most of my recent work is trying to get a clean, straight path from my basement mushroom farms to the Underground Jungle (large map). Holy balls I'm running out of grey bricks.

I don't understand the trouble with obsidian. Dig down til you find lava, go back up and seal side passages along the way until you reach an underground lake, divert it to the path you took going down to the lava. Mine obsidian.

I've got a single-player small world that has 4 or 5 stacks of nearly every material. I'll just post that. Then you don't even have to mine it. Then there's even more zero effort. I'm sure that's exactly what everybody wants is to have somebody play the game for them.
