Thanks!
Thanks!
The only items I lack now are Sunfury and Rocket Boots. It's supposedly "confirmed" that they come from Sky Islands, but I'm 0/23 generating worlds, half of which were Gold Brick houses.
Some dude and I burrowed directly to Hell on a public server along the edge of the map. There seems to be infinite water, so we essentially flooded 1/3 of the place after the initial hole was dug. I got all my molten gear from there and fought Bone Serpents for a good hour and a half with the set. It was easy killing them and the imps on a long platform over water. I got one flame lash and probably 9 Flower of Fires. I lack a Hellhole on my world and it's something I'd want to do myself.
Finally got my cobalt helm earlier for the full set. I've two extra pair of cobalt legs and bodies to show for the one helm I needed. I'm loving the Aqua Scepter and Flamelash... and I suppose Space Gun to some extent. I thought spells would be kind of shitty but they're actually pretty useful. Maybe I'll do a playthrough on a new character, giving it mana stars, low-mid level spells, and a couple Mana bands.
My last aspiration for this game would to be going through a world exclusively with a buddy. I'm trying to coax a kid I went to school with to buy the game and go through it with me, but he's preoccupied at the moment. If anyone's interested, I mostly play 10am~6am EST.
I checked the floating islands in two different worlds(small) and they had the same items both times(Starfury, Hot Air Balloon, and Lucky Horseshoe[names may be off as I'm at work right now]). Are they actually random? If so I should generate more maps for lootwhoring and testing.
Two of the wikias state it as confirmed and a couple people on /v/ say they got them every in every thread I read, but I want to personally confirm it.
So far:
3 Shiny Red Balloon
7 Starfury
13 Lucky Horseshoes
Also, I forgot, I need a Breathing Reed and Nature's Gift. Still have something to do!
I actually did that in my server as well and at first i thought there was infinite water too but i left the server up when i went to sleep because a couple of my friends were in it and when i went back in i checked and the water was actually all drained and that huge "ocean" as we called it was then a desert.
Ah, I didn't know that.
My Dungeon is smack up against the sea at the corner. Somehow, and I don't know how, the sand got removed and it leaked into the Dungeon while I was fighting Skeletron. It was still level with where it settled originally so I only assumed it was infinite. Over half of the initial descent was flooded, making me tunnel around the shit through the dungeon blocks. Not too fun with the Dark Casters pecking at you.
I do wonder how much water's actually there and if it varies by world.
Actually, everything I've read says that Rocket Boots used to come (rarely) from floating island chests, but they were changed so that now they only drop from Goblin Sorcerers when they invade. I've gotten 2 pairs of Rocket Boots myself, both from Goblins (from what I understand every Goblin Sorc has a chance to drop the boots so you could conceivably get more than 1 pair from 1 invasion, I got both of mine from 2 different ones).
Anywho, I have been farming Cobalt like crazy myself as well, I am still trying to get the stupid helm but I have 3 body pieces and 3 greaves now lol. I finally got my Blue Moon from the dungeon, so all I have left to get is the Sunfury and 2 accessories from the jungle (anklet of the wind and nature's gift)
Yeah, pre-release they came form both for sure. In retail there was speculation they no longer came from the island. Now though, there's persistent rumors that they still come from the Island but at a much lower rate.
I've been trying to force invasions by both Wikia's criteria, having broken orbs and waited but to no avail. I've experiences two invasions but only one on my personal world both not netting any boots.
it's a bitch... my first world i made i got a goblin invasion and managed to get 2 pairs of rocket boots and a harpoon, i stored the boots in chests cause i didn't have the mana to support it yet and a few hours later my game crashed.
my character saved but my world didn't, so when i reloaded i lost everything i had done to the world... now my second world i haven't seen the goblins since.

Updates to Terraria have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:
Controls
Right clicking and holding on a crafting recipe will craft multiple of the same item to a max of the stack and/or until you run out of materials.
Items
NEW ITEM : Sticky Bombs, Requires 5 Gel and a Bomb.
Sand Duping bug fixed.
Placing a bed far from the spawn no longer causes a player who has set their spawn there to crash on join.
Mining stone and other hard ores make a 'tink' noise now.
Hellstone and Obsidian now require at least a Demonite pick to gather.
Sand no longer spawns within a certain distance of the spawn location, This should remove the chance of spawning in a desert with no wood to use.
Hellstone now correctly takes as long to dig as meteor does.
The clay pot item now has the correct size.
Performance
Frame-skip is now correctly ON by default for new players.
Increased Client Side Multiplayer stability. Should resolve many crash causes.
Corrected a bug where players would intermittently not take falling damage.
The world file is now saved to a temporary file that is copied over to the actual save file. This prevents world corruption when saving is interrupted.
Fixed a bug that disabled some error handling. Overall game stability should be improved.
GUI
The version number of the game now shows on the title screen.
Typing numbers in chat no longer changes your selected item in your hotbar.
Server
Servers now listen to all IP addresses on the hosting PC, regardless of how many network connections are active.
Typing "localhost" instead of your own local IP address will connect to your own same-PC server.
The games default port is no longer ELEET (31337) it is now 7777.
Client will now resolve a hostname into its IP address, for example, if randomsite.org ran a server, you could type randomsite.org as the IP address and be able to connect.
I was just about to post that.
the right-clicking recipes: fuuuck yeah
The pickaxe requirements for hellstone/obsidian: makes sense to me
I was pretty damn excited when I found my first Rocket Boots (Goblin Sorcerer drop) so I could finally get at some floating islands without cluttering my sky with ugly ass bridges, but then I realized that my world is "large" and floating islands are about... 800 feet up in the air and all the mana-regen equipment I have is one Band of Starpower and two piece of Cobalt. I think I can get maybe 500 feet up with that setup without drinking a potion. Lame.
I got another Rocket Boots (from another Goblin Sorcerer). I need to trade it for a Cobalt Breastplate or something, I'm getting tired of farming Hornets.
ive got 2 extra cobalt breastplates, I don't need the boots but if you have a spare cobalt helm or anklet of the wind I'll take that, otherwise you can just have it
edit: I guess this update nerfs the ability to skip straight to hellstone? Now you pretty much have to go through the normal progression: iron/silver -> gold -> meteor -> nightmare, right?
Mioko:
I'd love a pair of rocket boots, it's the only item I don't have yet![]()
There's something quietly addicting about mining, it's sort of strange, haha. I normally hate building games, but this one isn't too bad... I still do go "Why am I even doing this, digging is like 98% of the game..", but I think it's simply because of playing with a buddy. Best item i've made so far was a gold sword, I was so stoked when I found GOLD. Friend then made a skybridge, that thing is crazy.
Why is there so much sand, water, and slimes? I try and go forage for wood, and just get swarmed by a million slimes. I'd prefer the encounter rates to be a little lower, but ah well.
I've seen two Blood Moons so far, what exactly are they good for other than a million zombies?
Aha, sorry buddyboys... I just went ahead finished my underground road to the jungle and the first handful of hornets that came at me dropped a shiny new Cobalt Breastplate. :3!
Pretty much just that. Zombies and Demon Eyes will spawn like nuts and the Zombies will open your doors. You can make a decent chunk of change (as well as assloads of shackles and lenses) from it. Actually, I was mining a meteorite when a Blood Moon started and the amount of Meteor Heads that were swarming me was intense, so I think the Blood Moons affect them as well... also possible with Eater of Souls, though I'm not sure. It might be all above-ground mobs' spawn rate.
Also, has anyone attempted to use Corrupt Seeds? I'm trying to get it to spread in my Vile Mushroom farm and I have a suspicion that I may have made it too deep for it to naturally spread/grow (next to my Glowing Mushroom farm) although I have yet to come across any information on requirements for Corruption to grow/spread besides "dirt."
Did you try using the seeds on grass, or on dirt? I am not really sure which one works but yea. Also I was thinking about making a vile mushroom farm above ground actually, I was thinking about putting it below a floating islands so it doesn't get wrecked if a meteor falls
