They can take their sweet time moving into an appropriate house/room after they spawn in your world, but I find that they find their way to it pretty quick if you're far underground and warp home and/or die, or even exit and reload your world. It's kinda' one of those "just try and forget about it and it will eventually happen" things.

Yeah he sucks, the hat seems like it'll be great though with Firelash after the buff since you basically can do 100 dmg with every fireball. It sucks they gave the strongest spells a buff though and the others like water bolt are still useless, hopefully theyll extend the buff to some other spells.

Are Jungle Hats the most common drops from the set? I'm at like 7 hats and nothing else. Kinda getting annoying when all of my chests from 2 worlds had no armor in them.

According to the wiki, all 3 pieces of the Jungle set are the same rarity, but I have a billion Jungle Pants (lol) and a few hats. The body piece was and still is the rarest for me.

Sometimes they get stuck in holes. He should have spawned near your house, so just look around close by.

Seems like right after I posted, I got back to back body drops. May have actually had them the entire time, I've just been carving through the jungle and noticed them next to each other when I got back to town to sell stuff.

NPCs are kinda dumb. If you can't get them to go to the right place, restart the map and that should make them go to their rooms.

Man, it's pretty crazy playing at highest resolution... I kinda' wish the entire HUD didn't completely scale down so small, it's almost hard to see stuff in your inventory. Also, it looks rad and I finally got all the Jungle Grass seeds I deserved. Hopefully there won't be Maneaters and Hornets all over my house.

Wow this game is fun as shit. I knew that it was going to be a timesink but good goddamn. Only played for maybe 10 hours all told but I can tell it is going to be a blast for a while. Found a Tim today and it scared the shit out of me. Happily I was able to kill him with my trusty Silver Broadsword and now I have a silly Wizard Hat.

All told so far I have found/made (and am wearing):
Hermes Boots
Cloud Jar
Goggles/Wizard Hat (when I actually HAVE magic to use)
Shackles
Band of Regen

That is all I have found. I may have enough Gold now for a Gold Pickaxe. I have Bronze Armor/Legs still... and have found maybe 3 heart upgrades. I am currently just making a mineshaft to hell. I killed about 30 Skeles before I saw my Hook for my Hookshot drop, and then I pretty much got 2 more Hooks immediately after that. Good times.

So I started a 2nd character on a fresh world. Demolitionist and Merchant showed up without having TNT or 8 gold on this character and no piggy bank on this world either. Is that right?

You get a Demo when you have sticky bombs or grenades now. You get a merchant by having 50 silver.

Even before 1.03, you didn't need dynamite. Getting a normal bomb by breaking a jar or something was enough.

Is there anything to make farming Bone Serpents better?

I've basically flooded my hell and used that to 'trap' them per some advice on wiki so I don't really have any issue with killing them, but at the rate that I see them spawn, I'm getting about 1-2 a minute and so far, I've only gotten 2 Sunfurys. I was farming hellstone/obsidian while I waited between spawns, but I've basically capped out on both of those.

Yeah, once you babyproof the underworld by either flooding it or building bridges across all of the lava, it's just a waiting and/or pacing game. Try to keep from getting too deep and close to very bottom of the map. From my experience, mobs stopped spawning entirely once I hit the bottom and sat there. Usually, I would be mining some Hellstone, some Fire Imps would spawn, and once I started screwing with them, I'd get Bone Serpents all over me.

Also, from my observations, 2 Sunfuries is a pretty good haul. I'm sure some people around here will want one.


edit: Is anyone else experiencing severely reduced mob spawns? I can walk halfway across my world at night and see, maybe 1 Zombie and 1 Demon Eye total. I was traversing through my entire local corrupted area and saw a total of 2 Eaters of Souls. I cleared every candle and Chain Light from my dungeon and was never swarmed by more than maybe 1 Dark Caster and 1~2 Mad Bones at a time. Could it be related to running it in super-high res since I think spawns are restricted to happening off-screen?

edit2: According to my little test, Jungle Grass will not grow above a depth of 2 feet below. Fuckin' shit.

My main map is like this. I dunno why either. It seemed like once I hit endgame on my first map mob spawns almost stopped.

supposedly, resizing your window will reduce the number of mob spawns you get, since enemies don't pop on screen. I was experiencing the same thing too, with the new update I was using a huge window and the overall number of enemies was a lot lower

Mobs definitely spawn on screen outside of an 800x600 even if you have a larger screen res. My mob grinder that I built at 800x600 still works just fine, even though now I'm running 19x1080.
