    so I just picked this up, was really enjoying it, and then I accidentally dropped my pickaxe outside of the temporary stone walls I built to keep zombies out at night and because I dropped my pickaxe I can't hack through the walls to go over and pick it back up.

    fucking retarded. now I have to either gather 50 silver and get a merchant to come live by me, or start over.

    so pissed off right now. you shouldn't be able to drop shit through walls.

    edit: got a lucky gold coin drop off of some little pink slime. converted that to 100 silver. hopefully we're back in business. although I stand by my opinion that you shouldn't be able to drop shit through walls.

    That definitely sucks. I do wish they had a way to flag items as non-dropable. I've incinerated at least one muramasa and my molten pickaxe. Luckily I keep backups of the worlds and was able to just restore an earlier version of my stuff.

    I agree. especially with the way the controls work - I'm still finding myself forgetting to exit the inventory menu before I attempt to use something.

    anywho, got my merchant. back to the mines...

    Yeah, be extra careful when adjusting your inventory near magma... Clicking just barely between the boxes counts as clicking outside of your inventory and it will drop it. Definitely a potential bummer. It happened to my very first set of 10 stars I collected. Poof.

    Then something is definitely borked with my world. Mob spawns are pretty fucking rare for me right now. I can build to my heart's content in the Underworld without being bothered by Imps for the most part.

    First of all I want to introduce myself. I'm Tiy and I do pixel art and design on Terraria. Up until now I've probably been the least vocal member of the team. I decided it was time for that to change, but it wouldn't be much of an introduction if I didn't bring you some good news would it?

    One major addition to 1.0.4 will be a feature we're calling Social Costume Slots. Costume items will replace the look of your armor without altering it's stats, resulting in a beautiful convergence of fabulous and functional. Some costumes will require you to brush up on your textiles skills, whilst others will have you mercilessly spelunking the depths on an exciting fashion adventure.

    Another hot issue I wanted to address was the removal of Cobalt armor and the addition of Grass armor. First of all, Cobalt armor will be back somewhere down the line, with all new functionality. We wanted to replace it with an armor more fitting of it's drop location and grass armor was the obvious choice. However, we're aware that armor changes are always going to be controversial. Given that armor is such a subjective issue. We're looking at ways to provide players with more variety per armor set, social items are only the beginning.

    Finally I wanted to leave you with this..

    I'm not sure if this is relevant anymore, but since there was talk about underground houses earlier, I figure I'd mention it.


    You can apparently build a house in the Underground layers. It seems like you just don't need to take out the back wall beforehand, which actually makes extreme deep houses possible with the ease of an aboveground house. Seems like you just can't build wall directly where the line between dirt and rocky walls start, which is what I was initially trying to do.

    and you can set your spawn point at that bed if you place a table/chair there? From what I understand, beds only work as spawn points underground in the dirt layer

    Ya, the bed seems to work when I used it, even without the table/chair presently there. I think I used to have a table/chair set-up and I took them out to get an NPC to leave. Edit: According the developer run wiki, it seems like bed's have a lower requirement to function than needing to be a full house.

    I had this outpost set-up to farm hellstone without the need to really worry about imps and bone serpents. Just had Nature's Gift set so I could spawn, mine until I died and then re-spawn and go again.

    That's bitchin. I guess if you make a big enough background, imps wouldn't spawn on you? Bone serpents would still own you in the face though.

    also, has anyone bothered making mob grinders yet? I was thinking about doing one for the underground jungle now that you can get seeds but eh, I dunno if it's more trouble than it's worth.

    I've been at this shit for 3 days btw, and I still only have 1 black lens. No tim spawns

    Well that Imp was teleporting into my house, not spawning. I guess if you made it so big that it never spawned close enough to teleport in? I didn't really play around too much with that bunker.


    Edit:

    What exactly is a mob grinder for? I'm basically done with everything except actually make my house in the dirt layer, so I'm trying to find new things to put off working on it. So far I've resorted to trying to get a mining hat from the Dead Miner while I work on materials, but I'd rather work on trying to get dark lens for the sunglasses. How effective is it in killing flying monsters? From videos it seems to kill land monsters better.

    I think I am 4 for 4 on Tim. Got myself full Shadow Armor =) Now I will probably head down and start on Obsidian. Lucked out on the second Eater of Worlds and got an Orb of Light or whatever too! Both EoW and EoC are pretty easy if I use the Thorn Chakram and fight them in the little platform thing I built.

    My friend started a server then got all butthurt because he wasn't around all weekend and I was. Now he wants to reset everything because I'm far ahead. I'm not giving up my nightmare pickaxe.

    uhh... 1/1 on Sunfury from the only Bone Serpent I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. Is that dumb luck?

    Decided to try the dungeon =( Old Man Skeletron effed up my face. Zerged the Dungeon on respawn though and made it to one chest... and got a Cobalt Shield! This game is too nice to me. Why... it wants something.

    I have been sitting underground (usually at -1000 feet) for 4 days and still haven't seen tim. I only got 1 sunfury after like a week of killing shit in the underworld

    Wow... Fuck me indeed. That sucks. Maybe I accidentally bought easy mode version. I wish that Obsidian Skull negated dmg from imps. They can suck it.

    I am starting a jungle room near my main house. Will hornets spawn in there eventually? The jungle is so far away... I want minecarts goddamn it.

    Monsters will spawn from jungle grass, but you need a fairly large area in order for them to spawn at a constant rate. I just made a small room to build a faux jungle shrine in and occasionally I'll get near it and a single monster will be there. To be effective, you'd need a space larger than your resolution with enough grass for monsters to spawn off.
