You didn't happen to get a ball o hurt off a shadow orb did you? Flail weapons rape bosses due to multi-hit properties.

Grenades are awesome for bosses too.
It's all about Vile Powder, nuckas'.
It's a little cheap, but you can also create new worlds and crack two shadow orbs each.
devs posted this and called it "Jungle", looks like a new biome

Sweet, I wonder how this is going to affect the importance of the Underground Jungle if you can probably just find it on the surface. Also, Jungle Grass as it stands now doesn't grow above -2 feet... Plus, I just busted my ass on my artificial jungle! >:3
my guess is that jungle will appear at the surface where the underground jungle comes to the surface, seems like they're making it easier to find? Hmm...
the jungle doesn't need to be any easier, hopefully it's a new tier map type
Hmm, something where the surface is about on the level of Jungle difficulty? Then getting harder as you explore? That might be nice.
I'm thinking they need more underground biomes. I'm not sure I'd be all that happy about being hemmed in by jungles and desolation when all I have is a copper pickaxe.
Version 1.04 coming friday!
Terraria is soon expecting another large update. Not only there will be many fixes and tweaks to existing mechanics, but there will also be a few new features added to the game.
We're not going to spoil it for you, but lets just say a new boss, new mobs, and even new items are on the way!
There will also now be a server crash log. This should help find the cause of any crashes that may happen, and help hosters make an even more stable server and client environment.
Expected release date is Friday.
yep, ended up doing this. starting with a medium world is cool for exploring and sheer sense of size, but when I want to do something targeted it's a pain in the ass. so I created a small world, mapped it, hopped over and smacked around a few shadow orbs. got the eater, killed the eater, got his scales, made a nightmare pickaxe, made an obsidian generator/liquid duplicator, etc. basically got shit done.
looking forward to the new update, though I'll be gone all weekend so won't get to touch it until sunday night or maybe monday. although I would expect a jungle to have more interesting foliage than what's in that screenshot. guess we'll see.
Starting to make random things to make my house bigger and decided I'd try an indoor forest. Didn't realize how much space you actually needed to make trees grow and all the rules they had, so I'm still tweaking it to efficiently make wood but every time I try to work out all the different things, I start to lose interest in it. Hoping to make 2-3 chambers of these, but I'd probably have to create an artificial mountain to put it in since this is already taking up a bunch of space.

my god that must have been a lot of work. are those hanging light things on the edge of each platform crafted or from a dungeon?
Yeah, Spikes, Water Candles, Books, and Chain Lights are dungeon specific decorations that you'll have to go raid one for.
Fantastic about the update! That underground tree farm looks pretty awesome, too. Maybe i'll actually go back and build a cool looking place... I actually spent some time mining the Dungeon for their materials. Found out the Dynamite will not break the blue bricks, but they will knock out the back wall.
Edit: Also post here once you guys find out what has been added! hehehe.
I wish there was a better way to grow trees. As it is, they appear to need 1 block of open grass on either side of the sapling to be capable of growing. However, grass/flowers/mushrooms/etc. constantly pop up in that space, removing the trees ability to grow, which means you constantly have to mow the lawn around your saplings. Is there a strategy to somehow getting open grass that will not sprout anything to obscure tree growing? Possibly water? Unless that also keeps the sapling from growing...
As far as I know, you have to trim your grass if you want to grow them tightly. It says that a single block lowered won't prevent growth around a sapling, but I'm not sure if that lowered block covered by grass would still act as a block that prevents the tree from developing.
