That's pretty awesome. Didn't even think of that when I saw that multiple floating islands could spawn together.
Only problem I can see with it is Meteors have a pretty high chance of hitting it, which would be annoying to clean up and repair. It'd probably be a good idea (if you don't need meteorite since it will basically prevent it from forming on the island) to make a thin wall around the entire area to prevent it from getting hit. I guess if you wanted to still have a chance at meteor you could make a thicker wall too but it might start to look a little weird with a 5-6 layer thick wall around the entire place.
seeing those screenshots has inspired me to renovate my house too. I kept the workshop/storage area mostly the same so far, but my plan is to have a big open courtyard in the center with rooms off to the side:

So far ive only done the armory and dining room, I'm still going to add a temple/throne room, a treasure vault, a laboratory, and a library, and some guest rooms if they add any more NPCs, and an apartment up top for myself.
One of my maps I actually put a bar of dirt/stone way above my castle in the sky to prevent that shit. I've got a couple stacks of meteor left, so I couldn't care less if they land.
I'm probably going to do that, yeah. I don't care about meteors on my main map, I have other maps for meteor farming if I want more meteor shot (which is the only thing I use it for anymore, though I suppose I COULD make every color of phaseblade...).
I'm planning on putting a swimming pool in there somewhere, probably on the rightmost side, next to the glass garden. I'm not really impressed by the "chair and table" options for rooms at the moment, I'd like to see more decorations... but I'm patient, the dev team is very content-focused, so if it's a choice between new bosses, new items, new biome types, and new invasions.... versus some couches and wall paintings? Yeah. Pew pew, kthx.
Bleh... been killing things in the jungles for hours and hours and cannot get a single pair of greaves...
Also... am I odd for not really wanting to build a really nice house? I just like to explore and kill things and collect, which the greaves and seeing a goblin invasion is all I really want to do as of now. At least til tomorrow's update.
I started working on my house once I started to run out of things to do.
After spending multiple hours just sitting in the Underworld/Jungle waiting for monsters to spend forever spawning/not dropping anything, actually doing something that you can see the results of instantly is a nice change.
It starts out slow as a hobby but starts to pick up after awhile. Also good to work on between updates, since getting things from the update only really takes 1-3 days to complete.
Yeah, building for fun is something that most people probably won't bother with until they've exhausted the existing content. Not only is it good to kill the between-updates time, it's also likely that you won't have all the materials/decorations/tools you would prefer for your dream fortress/castle/dungeon/house/etc. Also, it involves a lot of terraforming sometimes, and that can be daunting to even get started.
I tried various forms of this, and either it didn't work, or it didn't seem to fill any faster. Still, not a bad idea at all. I want to get one of the infinite water pools to work (the ones that you don't have to stand there clicking for hours). They were just so damn slow, and I was impatient.
They need to add some kind of fountain or water-movement item. I want to create waterfalls and fountains!.
We decided to restart our world since the update is coming. I'm going to build a castle made of hellstone and glass.
more work on my new house!:

ugh, no wonder the demolitionist won't move into my lab... apparently you can't use dungeon background walls (green/blue/pink) for NPC roomsThat sucks
At least this lets me use blue/green for my personal apartment without worrying that an NPC is goign to ditch their room for mine.
wow, the game sure picks up after getting your nightmare pickaxe. took forever to get there, but after I made one the game flew by. suddenly I had a set of molten armor, fiery greatsword and various other goodies faster than I could blink.
making obsidian is so fucking tedious though. liquid duplication is a nice shortcut but it still takes forever. click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click
seriously, who would have thought that farming hellstone while being assaulted by fire imps and bone serpents would be less frustrating than making obsidian?
Patch notes are up, holy shit so much stuff. Can't repost at the gym but they're over at http://www.terrariaonline.com/thread...7/#post-366713

But are there bunny costumes...
Cave bats are so fasssssssssssst.
I like that the Costume Slots also allow you to carry a second set of armor if you want, and can just swap them out right next to each other. Frees up 3 more inventory slots anyway, until I have a bunny costume.
So now that the patch has been live for a whopping hour or so, anybody know how to get a goldfish NPC? I found one swimming in the ocean at the end of the map, but it's not attackable, pickaxe-able, or hamaxe-able. Maybe I need a net or something? lol
