Ok so yea, Underworld is even worse now than it was with the souped up spawn rates. It's hard enough to ignore lava slimes when you're trying to kill hellbats (which do way too much damage), and the fluid physics don't work exactly as they should so I've got random corners with permanent lava flows that do 85 damage. They really just need to take lava slimes out altogether

edit: no seriously, fuck lava slimes. I am absolutely through trying to replace the ash bridges in my existing world until they either get rid of lava slimes or make them not drop lava anymore. Most of my deaths now are from bats that swarm like nuts even if there are other mobs on the screen, or from those stupid fucking lava corners. This game is amazingly fun but the second you get to the underworld it's just no fun at all, and they keep making it more and more ridiculous.

56 Hours Played... and I JUST figured out that holding the right mouse button when crafting creates one item after another rapidly. SOO nice when mass producing shit. It was my one real gripe, and the solution was there all along. -.-

I think that was actually only added like 2 patches ago, so you didn't miss out too much.

I find I do nothing but spam pots in underworld. Although really, the longevity of the game (after you get your nifty toy weapons) is in the building for me. I really want to see some new building materials in the next update (with a fucking water pump).

On the bright side, they un-nerfed liquid splitting.

Also, if you make your ash bridges every other block, lava falls through, but you can keep running. That may or may not be useful.

I always made bridges in the underworld out of hellstone bricks I mined from the ruins down there. Making them porous sounds like the way to go.

Working pretty well so far. I have a rack of deathweeds up in the glass dome, waiting for a blood moon.

For whoever mentioned it, I found two Tridents. Both were in golden chests, both submerged in water. One was found in the ocean, and the other was in a corrupted chasm.

I found one in a Gold Chest in the underground jungle on a platform. I figured it was the lowest damage spear, so I tossed it. Looking over the list now, it seems to be the second best out there, but pales in comparison next to the Dark Lance.

Considering going the Night's Edge/Attack Speed route now that the Sunfury and Muramase have been nerfed. Has anyone tried using molten arrows or maining dark lance?

As for Lava slime, yes, they do suck. I've built an elevated stone platform about two screen long (1600x900 monitor), with walls on either end that the slimes cannot jump over, and a hole every few blocks for lava to drain when needed. There's a very thin, broken up layer of lava that remains, but it doesn't seem to hurt you anymore. When slimes build up on one side of the platform, I run to the opposite side and they despawn. The system's worked well for me, although I've yet to get a Demon Scythe from the stingy bastards.

Fireblossoms or whatever they're called - Can they only grow when adjacent to lava, or can they be a certain distance away? I haven't dicked around with growing flowers at all, but I read their conditions last night. I need to start a farm on a new world it seems.

I've only seen three types of seeds. Does anybody have fireblossom, deathweed, or waterleaf seeds?

Also, Antlions are shitheads. 0/lots now. Finally got my scubamask though.

Has anybody seen the bug where you can go beyond hte edge of the map? It only works on my new world, but if I swim to the end of hte ocean, the world just stops, yet I can keep going... I can fall all the way to hell over there.

Fireblossoms natively grow in ash, so they're found all over the underworld. If you're growing them in a pot, they'll grow in any state, but they'll only bloom when immersed in lava (so that you can get seeds to plant more).

e: Deathweeds will sprout fairly regularly in Corruption, but you can ONLY harvest seeds from them during a Blood Moon. Waterleaf plants need to be immersed in water to bear seeds.

These conditions INCLUDE when in pots. They won't bloom unless they have the proper conditions, and all you'll get is a single plant for alchemy, no seeds.

Might be able to have a 2-block high pool of lava with a platform over it. It should allow the Fireblossom and seeds to be harvested, assuming they don't burn.

Is there anything special about hte other 3? I got flowers/seeds no problem when harvesting them in the wild, but do they require something dumb as well (ie, like being underground, or in a forest, or in daylight)?

FLOWER/SEED REQUIREMENTS - When a plant is in "bloom" it will be graphically different. It will be very obvious.
Daybloom: Must be day
Moonglow: Must be night
Deathweed: Must be Blood Moon
Waterleaf: Plant must be immersed in water
Fireblossom: Plant must be immersed in lava
Blinkroot: Hell if I know, I had 60+ seeds by the time I cared, might only bloom underground


Other ingredients:
Feathers - Harpies around sky island level
Coral - grows naturally in the ocean
Shark fin - sharks will randomly attack in the ocean; not fucking around
Cactus - you will be SICK of cactus before long, all over the desert

Blinkroots, when mature, will glow periodically. They don't require any special conditions other than you being there when they glow.

At least that's what I've read. I've no first-hand experience.

I think Blinkroot simply has random on/off blooming. I've seen some underground, blinking (in bloom), and by the time I got over to it, it was no longer in bloom. I have successfully grown it well above ground with no problems.

At least lava doesn't destroy wood, since my new home is made if wood. Maybe I can make Fireblossoms work without it looking too retarded. I'm wondering how much of the flower really needs to be submerged...

Also, I started a new world, been slowly building my new place... and it took me a while to figure out where I wanted the Guide's room to be. In the meantime, he got murdered by zombies on a Blood Moon. I have yet to see him respawn and it's been days. I really hope it didn't glitch.

Lava will destroy wood and planks if it lands on top of them. Imitarate's picture a few posts ago shows Fireblossoms growing in 2-block high lava, one for the pot, other for the blossom.
