So now that I can finally play multiplayer, which is the official BG server? I saw there were two or three at one point.

Almost everything the wizard sells is for post-WoF content. Most of them are crafting items (book, harp, bell); greater potions are obviously for higher-levels, and the crystal ball seems ancillary (though I rather like buff furniture).
Boo, the server's running on the older version.
Yeah, I just got home. It's updated now.
So what's the new stuff? I'm assuming just fluff, since they just had the massive update. Anything cool?
It appears to be mostly bug fixes with a little bit of Christmas snow biome thrown in.

The new invasion was a lot harder than I was expecting.
New invasion? Hardmode? Or something with yesterday's update?
Are there still goblin invasions in hardmode? I assume so, but I haven't seen one yet.
He meant the snowman invasion from the most recent update. They have a good amount of HP. And yeah, gobs still invade in hardmode, but they haven't changed at all and are just as easy as they were before.
I finally had goblins invade my hardmode storage world. You're correct, they're just as squishy as they have always been (especially with excal and other new goodies). I got all sorts of presents with candycane shit and a snowglobe, too! I tried to place the snowglobe next to my other furniture (next to my crystal ball!) and accidentally summoned the snowmen. Oops. They're definitely harder. I had to use a few pots while nuking them. Most jumped in my lava moat, so no big deal. Yay santa!
Anyone still play this? I got it for like 2 bucks on steam and it seems cool. Joined a random server and now I have shadow armor and boots and a megashark. Also someone gave me 5 mana stars which gave me 100 mana. I still have no idea what I'm doing though.
I play occasionally. Unfortunately once you get the new gear from each update, there is little reason to continue unless you just LOVE building new and different things.
It was on holiday sale for 2 days for $2.49.
Well, is it worth the $10, or have I pretty much missed the boat since it's an 8 month old or so game by this point?
If you want it for multiplayer, you may have missed the hype boat as well as the recent big patch hype boat, but if you're gonna play it single-player, I'd say go for it. It's definitely fun until you've collected just about everything.
They recently added basically and "endgame" mode, which when you've gotten bored of the difficulty of normal mode, mixes things up, challenges you more, and gives you access to More Neat Stuff.
I wouldn't mind starting over again with new people if someone sets up a new server. I'm at the point where I can either do hard mode or just build shit, and I'm too much of a puss to go into hardmode for now (solo). But yes, it was worth the 10 dollars if you get a server with a bunch of people, preferably from BG, to raid the lower reaches of the planet and rape goblins and worms.
Hmm, as I poke about the Steam service, I find myself wondering if anyone might have an extra copy from a bulk purchase they'd be willing to gift or set up a discounted sale through the trade forum here. I know, I'm a cheapskate, but just had to loan my mom some cash this morning because she's fucking terribad with money and it'll probably be weeks before I get it back.
