Terraria (2d Minecraft)

Played a ton with some friends but the amount of shit you collect while playing is ridiculous. I am having trouble organizing it into chests and deciding what is worth keeping around. Pretty overwhelming.

Made a grappling hook for me and my friends, working on digging down. Got some demonite ore. No idea what's going on though.

If you knew what to do, you'd power right through the game's content in no time, then you'd be done playing. If you're having a good time, I'd let it be and just keep bumbling around not knowing what you should do next.

(Here's some not-so-vague tips for you: work on getting a full suit of decent armor, gold or silver, and a few Heart Containers. Pretty soon the Eye will attack you at nightfall if it hasn't already. Get good at killing it, then farm it for demonite ore. Find a few sticks of TNT or buy some, then find some surface Corruption and fall down into some of the chasms. You should be able to spot a few shadow orbs ... bomb your way to them with the TNT and break them with a hammer. With luck, you'll get a Ball'o'Hurt, a pretty good starter weapon to use on the Eye and Eater of Worlds. After you've broken 3 orbs, Eater of Worlds will spawn. Kill him and take the Shadow Scales he drops. Combine those with Demonite Bars you got from the Eye and make a Nightmare Pick and Shadow armor. Once you have a Nightmare Pick, you can actually dig to shadow orbs yourself without using TNT. I'll cut it off there, since there's a shit-ton more to do after that, but that should get you a good start.)

I wouldn't mind contributing to a giant build project. Otherwise either I get halfway through a large project and give up as too time-consuming, or my creativity fails me.

Has anybody done anything cool with the new wires and statues and shit?

Doing anything large in a hardmode world kinda blows... the clowns blow up all your shit, and there's lots of enemies that float through walls.

Terraria's marked for death. No more content updates. It didn't even make it to a full year. /sadface~

The future of Terraria has been highly debated as of late, not just with the community, but for us as well. The last year has been a crazy ride! When I started on this game, I just had a few ideas of what I thought would make a fun game. I had no idea that it would receive so much attention. I want to thank all of you for supporting us and making this game's success possible.

After a lot of internal debate, we have decided that it is time to move on. My wife and I are due to have another boy soon, and I want to spend some time getting to know him. I also want to spend the time recharging and bettering myself as both a programmer and game designer. I have learned a lot from working on Terraria and plan on using what I've learned, building upon it, and moving forward with another, even better project. However, we are still planning at least one more bug fix for Terraria.

I dunno, it's a hell of a game, I'm satisfied with what we've gotten. At least mods from here on out won't be constantly broken by updates like a certain other screw-around-with-blocks game.

Yeah I was pretty sadface when I realized that all the dudes kinda went in their own directions, especially after Terraria was as successful as it was. I would have to assume that it was because of lack of an agreement on direction to take the game... probably why they seem to be working on their own projects now.

Another reason to keep an eye on how Starbound starts to shape up... It will probably replace Terraria for me entirely if they pull through on all they have planned.

I don't disagree that it's a great game and a great value for the $, but it just... seems too soon for it to be done.

after the game basically released a few months early due to a leak due to their pretty incompetent protection of their own server, I could see why they decided to end it early. I dont think theyve been happy either with steam but thats because they said yes to a steam sale right off the bat then freaked out when steam put the game on sale

Sorry for the bump, but any advice on Hardmode bosses? I got full adaman and tried to take on The Destoryer and well... lets just say the name is justified.

Iron Skin, Well Fed(Soup), and any attack enhancing potions if you're going to melee him.

Iron Skin, Well Fed(Soup), Gravity, and any Magic/Ranged Attack enhancing potions if fighting him from afar.

Have a stack of Great Healing Pots and you should do just fine.

If you just want it dead without a desire for challenge, you can follow this video:

Build this tower-like thing, stock up on as much def as you can and get a cross necklace (drops from mimics). The boss becomes a joke and you can farm 2-3 in one night.

Maybe not that easy, though that was the general idea I was going to do. Make a small tower with platforms so lasers won't hurt me, get caught in his body, then use the music box to go to town on him.

Started playing this again - by myself

- and thought I'd throw in an update to the game as well (note I'm about a month late) -

Terraria is coming to consoles, XBLA/PSN with new content via 505games. Apparently there's a lot of upheaval, what with Redigit quitting production on the PC build, but who knows what this update will do for PC version (new content not available as of now for PC).

Obviously as PC players, most everybody isn't happy. I'd like an excuse to play multiplayer again, but I'm not sure how many people are still into this game. I enjoy castle building - one of my favorite aspects of the game - but multiplayer takes the cake.
