It'd also a good opportunity to bring back move sets for characters they've decided they don't want to bring back for one reason or another. I'm a big fan of the original Soul Blade and I'm pretty annoyed that only four of the original cast of ten are still in this thing. I'd like to be able to recreate Hwang or Li Long, especially considering their movesets were included in SC3.
what are talking about, male Ivys are hilarious
also, when is the goddamn demo coming out.
I thought Algol was a dumb character in 4, I'm kind of irritated they'd bring him back, especially if they leave out ZashalIcan'tSpell. I was terrible playing him but his moveset was fun.
Is there any news/information concerning the Story mode? The big map mode adventure story deal was what I really loved about the first Soul Calibur game back on Dreamcast. 4's story mode was.. awful.
15 years later, and it doesn't look like anyone has aged. Gotta love it. Some characters look even younger.
Yeah I think the most appealing thing about Soul Blade on the PS1 was the story mode, as far as I know it was probably the first of its kind and it really made an impression on me compared to the barebones approach of a lot of fighting games of the era. I also really liked Soul Calibur 3's semi-RTS style mode where you leveled up your custom characters, I had a ridiculous amount of fun with that. I can't help but feel 3 got the short end of the stick, it's kind of the black sheep of the series but for a casual player there was so much fun to be had.
4 was really a disappointment in that respect, I never really felt like there was much meat to the single player modes beyond frustrating challenges. I hope 5 carries some casual appeal, Mortal Kombat really knocked it out of the park last year. I know most fighting game enthusiasts hate to hear it, but there's a market for casual players in the genre that love that kind of shit.
I wonder why Namco has an obsession with fast-forwarding a series and then not really doing anything with it. They did the same thing with Tekken 3, and now that we're up to Tekken 6 nearly every character they axed with the 15 year gap has been reinstated.
tbh I think Soul Calibur and Tekken could both stand for a series reboot in the near future.
Why reboot popular fighting franchises because of their story-lines? That's the silliest shit ever, people playing the wrong genre if they're worried about plot consistency. Til this day 90% of the people playing Street Fighter have no idea what the fuck is going on for the most part yet it's still arguably the best fighting game series.
Everything has a system! The older the female char the bigger the boobs! So I expect that Ivy will have in the next iteration SC VI the ability to destroy someoen with her boobs!

IGN had some news about upcoming DLC's.
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/121/1217372p1.html
Not bad price for collectors. Soul Calibur had some great tracks. The first piece of DLC for Soulcalibur V will be made available next week.
The content is scheduled to coincide with the European launch of the game on February 3. It will contain nine "exotic" customisation items, including bikinis, face paints and wigs.
The next piece of downloadable content will hit on Valentine's Day, where you'll be able to equip "fearsome" items, such as a kimono, a breast plate or - should the mood take you - various animal heads.
The final bit of content will be made available on February 28, with face paint and camouflage amongst the new items.
Each pack will also contain music from the franchise's back catalogue. The first pack features tracks lifted from Soul Blade and Soulcalibur, the second pack takes music from Soulcalibur II and III, while the final pack draws on Soulcalibur IV and Broken Destiny.
Each piece of DLC will be priced at €1.99 or 160 MS points in Europe.
Bikinis? Man, they should just make Soul Calibur: Extreme Beach *insert sport here* at this point.
Didn't they do that clothes DLC bullshit with SC4? It's part of the reason why I shelved the shit out of the game after a week.
Hence the phrase "part of the."
