2 has been my favorite so far. I still remember the nights me and friends would just play SC2 and Super Smash Bros Melee all night. And die laughing at Voldo air hump attacks. Ah simpler times.

Soul cal was something special last gen, it was one of the first fighters for next gen. Since then, every blockbuster fighter has made at least one release, overshadowing soul. Soul has always been my fav fighter other than killer instinct, but the genre is so over populated this gen that I don't plan to even rent it...
Well, SC5 is confirmed.
Will probably be more info tomorrow if that mystery countdown site is SC5 or maybe from their Press Conference tomorrow. The SoulCalibur series is a popular many reasons: Its intriguing, three-dimensional characters; Its plot that continues to evolve as time moves on; Its unique weapons-based fighting system. The franchise has created a number of great titles, and it looks like that will continue, as SoulCalibur V has been confirmed. Some gamers however, might be a bit disappointed when they hear that a fan favorite won’t be returning for the new installment.
Some of you may remember that the Japanese Namco Bandai website put up a mysterious countdown about a week ago. That countdown is still ongoing, and could still lead to more information on SoulCalibur 5. However, the director of the game, Daishi Odashima, confirmed the game’s development via his Twitter account, and has been answering questions regarding the game since. Though he has yet to reveal any major bits of information, such as a potential release date, he has mentioned that Siegfried, who arguably had the main character role for most of the series, won’t be the main character for the next SoulCalibur.
Another surprising reveal is that fan favorite character Shura won’t be making an appearance in the next game. No reason for this was given, and it was just an answer to a fan asking if she would return. It could be that, due to her role as an extra character in the last game, and one that wasn’t integral to the plot, she would be considered unnecessary.
Shura’s only appearance was in SoulCalibur IV came as one of the extra characters who mimicked other characters’ movesets – in her case, the Dread Pirate, Cervantes. Her only reason for existence was killing other people and she eventually moved on to fighting evil spirits. One of them wound up possessing her, but not even that stopped her from continuing her killing spree. She and the spirit eventually joined forces, the spirit wanting to find a truly powerful body to stay in, and Shura wanting to kill more and more people. She became a surprisingly popular character, so there will be disappointed in her not coming back.
Are you looking forward to the newest SoulCalibur? Who will be the main character, if not Siegfried? How did the events of the previous game end? What will the plot of this one be?
Another thing that supposedly came from his twitter as well when asked was; that Ivy's boobs are unlikely to be bigger.
Edit: Double post
Every single post you make, you complain about something. Do you like ANYTHING? Or rather anything not "retro"
Anyway, psyched to see another SC. Ivy's boob size in part 2 was ideal. Go back to that! Also; if Siegfried is out, please make him joined with Nightmare again for the love of everything.
I don't think it says Siegfried is out. It said that he won't be the "main" character.
No reason they would remove Siegfried. As most developers have probably learned at this point, removing popular characters from sequels can be a recipe for disaster.
And I love how a model swap being removed is apparently a source of QQ. If Shura was a male model no one would give a flying fuck in the slightest.
I just hope there's a character creation mode again this time. That made the last game for me.
Debut Trailer:
Namco Bandai has announced Soul Calibur V during their Level Up press conference in Dubai, earlier this morning. It will launch in 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Game producer Hisaharu Tago of Project Soul made the announcement on stage. Soul Calibur V takes place 17 years after Soul Calibur IV, has an improved battle system and other new features. The main fighter is a character named Patroklos, the son of Sophitia Alexandra.
Namco Bandai has yet to release a direct-feed trailer, but Kotaku was able to record an off-screen version of the clip. See it below.
According to Tago, interviewed by Eurogamer, Soul Calibur V will feature guest characters, though he did not share specifics.
“We will have guest characters as we did with Star Wars,” said Tago. “Please stay tuned for more information on that.”
The game features “lighter, sharper, and more elegant” combat, and marks a shift from two-handed swords to short swords.
“There is quite some change in the gameplay from Soul Calibur IV. The pace of the game has been improved, and the combos will be easier to perform, and the moves will be easier to pull out.”
Editor’s Note: The artwork behind the Soul Calibur V logo is from Soul Calibur IV.
17 years later.. wonder how the characters are going to age (or not).
Also, didn't 4's story (lulz@fighting game stories) end with both swords turning out to be evil and getting destroyed?
Few more tidbits
The game, set 17 years after Soulcalibur IV, features guest characters, Project Soul producer Hisaharu Tago told Christian Donlan for Eurogamer.
The main character is Patroklos, son of Sophitia. Patroklos is "inspired" by the gameplay of Sophitia, but is "sharper" and "more agile". He has new moves, but they're all inspired by Sophitia's.
V takes the Siegried ending of IV and builds upon it. Seigfried, now 39 years old, no longer wields the Soul Calibur sword.
V is described as a "generational shift", complete with new characters, but SCIV characters will return. "SC 1-4 was a continuous story," Tago said. "We want to make a generational shift with a new story this time."
The Soulcalibur series is famous for the inclusion of characters from other universes, such as Link from The Legend of Zelda and Yoda from Star Wars. Will other non-Soulcalibur characters feature?
"Difficult question," Tago said. "We will have guest characters as we did with Star Wars. Please stay tuned for more information on that."
V marks a shift from two-handed swords to short swords, Tago announced. The story includes "the enigma as to why the swords have become short swords".
The game's new fighting style is described as "lighter, sharper, and more elegant". The online mode has been improved with new features. "Gameplay in IV could be a little heavy, particularly when you were online – we wanted gameplay that was more fast and reactive," Tago said.
On the shift in gameplay: "Maybe the hardcore fans will be afraid that we lose the core of the gameplay, but that's not the case. And for new players it's nice to have gameplay that is more continuous – you don't need to wait as much between moves.
"There is quite some change in the gameplay from SCIV. The pace of the game has been improved, and the combos will be easier to perform, and the moves will be easier to pull out."
Elsewhere, Tago confirmed the create a character feature from previous games in the series returns, but refused to divulge details.
This is the start of the decline of Ivve's tits.
Wasn't she an alchemist or something? I'm sure she's found or made a philosopher's stone and is using it to maintain eternal bounce (and I suppose youth).

I have adored Soul Calibur/Edge/Blade for an inappropriately long time. IV was fucking phenomenal, minus those awkward accidental stage selects when you take your perfectly crafted create-a-character Barbies to fight against each other in glorious combat... IN SPACE. Fuck Star Wars.
Have to disagree that the solo play in IV wasn't good; I really enjoyed ascending/descending the Tower. I hope Hilde makes a return; ass-busted or not she was the best character design I'd seen in forever.
I thought Soul Edge and Soul Calibur already merged once before in SCII?
Glad to hear this series return. I hope V puts the Calibur name back to its former glory. Been also playing since Soul Edge, Calibur for Dreamcast was soo great, as was 2. Last few caliburs not been so great so I wish they fix that. Its nice they start from "clean slate" but I hope they keep most of the fighting styles.
