I'm just glad i was able to register my Portal 2 with PSN before it went down. Other then that, I don't use my PS3 for anything other then netflix and PS1 classics. and some PS3 games on the side. For online gaming, thats why i have a PC

XI doesn't go through PSN, you connect directly to Playonline. PS3 still has internet capabilities (think friend even said he could use it to browse the net), its just that PSN is taken down. Anything that doesn't go through PSN (system updates, game updates, ect... type of stuff) is unaffected.

FFXI on the PS2 still uses DNAS which is operated by Sony to prevent piracy. Since SOE is down, wouldn't their authentication servers also be?
