Unless it's a new as of today all you have to do is select netflix > hit x to sign in psn acct when prompted > it will say can't maint. > hit o > wait while netflix loads your Q > it will ask you to sign in again, hit x it will say can't maint. again, hit o and there you go. At that point you can fully access your Netflix like usual.

Lots of reports that the workaround isn't working anymore. Some say it's still up though.

Got off of work, clicked on the thread and it took me right to this post.
I was like "oh fuck! psn is working again and turned on my ps3 (which is right next to my pc.)
As it was starting up I scrolled up 2 posts and had my hopes dashed.

Sony has announced that it will be offering two free games -- from an unspecified choice of five -- to PlayStation Network members as part of its apology for the infamous PSN breach. PSP users will also have two games, from a list of four.

In addition, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is looking at a way to offer some identity theft insurance for its users, following the announcement that Sony America would be doing so. According to SCEE's Nick Caplin, the process has been difficult due to countries within Europe having all sorts of different laws. The company hopes to have all PSN users in Europe protected before the PSN comes back.

TOKYO, May 7 (Reuters) - Sony said on Saturday it had removed from the Internet the names and partial addresses of 2,500 sweepstakes contestants that had been stolen by hackers and posted on a website, and said it did not know when it could restart its PlayStation video games network. The company, under fire since hackers accessed personal data from about 100 million user accounts of its PlayStation Network and PC-based online gaming services, said in a statement details posted on the inactive website also included three unconfirmed e-mail addresses.

The data came from customers who entered a 2001 product sweepstakes contest. The list did not include information on credit cards, social security numbers or passwords.

"The website was out of date and inactive when discovered as part of the continued attacks on Sony," Sony said, adding that the company took the website down shortly after finding out about the postings on Thursday. Sony Chief Executive Officer Howard Stringer apologised on Friday to users of the firm's PlayStation Network and other online services, breaking his silence on the massive data breach. The company said last Sunday that it would begin restoring services within the week but a spokeswoman said on Saturday this would not be possible, and that no date had been fixed for when services would resume.

The incident may prove to be a significant setback for a company looking to recover after being outmanoeuvred by Apple in portable music and Samsung Electronics in flat-screen TVs.

In video games, it faces a tough fight with Nintendo's Wii game console and Microsoft's Xbox.

"This wait is becoming so tedious. I know there needs to be a lot of testing, but it is really getting annoying. I am seriously considering changing to the Xbox," said message posted by a user called Cryonic UCX on the U.S. PlayStation blog.

"I LOVE my PlayStation, but Sony is not doing well in the online. Sony, you need to step your game up!"

On Friday, Sony shares ended 2.3 percent lower in a broader market down 1.5 percent, extending its total losses to about 6 percent since it revealed the breach. The Nikkei is up around 3 percent over the same period.

Sony issued its first warning on the PlayStation break-in a week after it detected a problem with the network on April 19, infuriating many users around the world. Sony said it needed time to work out the extent of the damage.

The hackers have not been identified, but Internet vigilante group Anonymous, which had claimed responsibility for previous attacks on Sony and other corporations, denied it was behind the data theft. [ID:nN05150202]

The group's statement came after Sony said Anonymous was indirectly responsible for the attack on the company.

Sony, which is set to report its annual earnings on May 26, has yet to specify the financial effect of the network breach.

That still works for me to get into the menus, but now it asks to log into PSN before loading any/each video = no netflix. WRYYY

Yeah, I guess some videos are flagged a certain way that they make you log in to PSN to play, or at least check to make sure you are.

This seems to be able to short circuit the workaround.

May 9th Update: The Sony PlayStation Network down crisis is receiving a prolonged outage based on the recent website attack, according to a spokesperson. The PSN, still not online, has a target of May 31.

At this point, another delay is not much of a shocker to the PS3, SOE, and Qriocity members from the PSN hacked incident. In psychology, it's called "learned helplessness," or being conditioned in getting one's rear kicked.

According to a report from Bloomberg, a Tokyo-based spokesperson gave the dismal news of a (another) delay. Shigenori Yoshida said the Sony PlayStation Network, down since April 20, failed to get back online by week's end.

The company is conducting further testing on a new and improved network security system designed to prevent another data breach by hackers of PSN.

But the truth is the company suffered another embarrassment when its website sustained an attack. Well, the hackers warned Sony days ago.

Yes, you heard it right; the PSN is far off from getting back online. You'll just have to wait a little while longer before playing "Black Ops."

Bummer; it stinks, but the company has much to gain at this point by creating a secure system.
No one wants another breach that involves over 100 million gamers, suddenly left in the dark and with the only option to defect to Xbox.

Remember that the Sony PlayStation Network is down because the company failed to keep an eye on your private data, but kept innovation in its crosshairs.

It's worth the wait to get the PSN back online, because a few freebies are in order, and a $1 million identity theft insurance policy is yours at no cost.
