We temporarily took down the PSN and Qriocity password reset page. Contrary to some reports, there was no hack involved. In the process of resetting of passwords there was a URL exploit that we have subsequently fixed.

Consumers who haven’t reset their passwords for PSN are still encouraged to do so directly on their PS3. Otherwise, they can continue to do so via the website as soon as we bring that site back up.

Says thread deleted, and going by the title in the URL I'd wager it was probably misinformation. Haven't heard anything about PS3s shutting themselves off while playing, nor has it happened to myself or anyone else I know. There is a bug though if you click the Playstation Store option on the main menu, it tries to direct to the little in game hookup to it and causes the whole game to lock up.

It was something about the current update causing 'overheating' issues in older PS3 models.

Sounds like a bunch of bullshit to me like that one time when FFXIII supposedly was doing the same thing. Read: false cause.

Well for me when I quit a online session by going from the XMB to just shut off system it beeps then resets the whole PS3 and the discs don't ever fully eject when I go to change them. It all started after I updated to 3.61.

Yep, bank/Visa just called me a minute ago saying someone had tried to use my card # at 3 different places in India and they declined them on them all haha. New card on way QQ

A shame there's no real way to tell if it was due to PSN though. It just seems fucking stupid to do it so soon after it got hacked if a person did get your CC info from the leak.

First time I have ever had the card company call me about suspected fraud. WAY too much of a coincidence it would be anything other than PSN. Even if you are in the US, I would cancel your card.

They spent $4 on food which went through, then was refunded, then tried to spend $250 on jewelry and it was declinded, and then again on the same thing.

It's hard to argue the credit card frauds are anything other than coincidental. PSN boasts 77 million users worldwide and not all of them will have registered card details on the free service. However, to give an idea of scale, 77 million people is more than the population of France and Belgium combined, or a quarter of the population of the United States.

In other words, a significant percentage of PSN users are likely to be hit by fraud every day via unrelated causes, and it's easy to pin the blame on Sony.

Has anyone tried doing the PW reset on a PS3 other than your original? My PS3 died before the PSN incident and I was waiting until E3 to get a new one in case the price dropped. Now that the ability to reset your PW on the site is gone, I just wanna be sure I didn't lose access to my account.
