The second premise is messed up tho because their claim is: 77M PSN user accounts = 77M individuals... which makes the rest irrelevant ;xIt's hard to argue the credit card frauds are anything other than coincidental. PSN boasts 77 million users worldwide and not all of them will have registered card details on the free service. However, to give an idea of scale, 77 million people is more than the population of France and Belgium combined, or a quarter of the population of the United States.
I know almost for a fact it was from the PSN attacks (or whichever was the first attacks). It was a card I have used for basically nothing except for PSN and I used for a couple of Christmas presents bought offline (its a credit builder card only).
Actually, my only PSN purchase was Marvel 2. The only reason I didn't use my normal card is because I used the Marvel 2 purchase to test if the card worked or not.
LOL @ Sony, I can't wait to hear them @ E3 when the whole thing is about reassuring their customers that PSN is safer than ever while other companies dickslap them in the face.
Microsoft has to be loving this. A hacked PSN is still eons better than anything Nintendo has. Not sure who they are slapping with anything.
well, Microsoft would have had a little PR problem with all of its older 360 models getting bricked, but because of Sony, I bet they'll get praised for how they're "handling" it.
Well Weltall you were not alone today.. Wells Fargo just called me few min ago saying someone was trying to make a purchase at realtek software store for $640 which I have no clue about..I also ask if its due to the PSN hacked and they said it highly likely it was from that....thank god my bank caught it in time because I'm trying to buy a house soon
Yep, that settles it. Done with buying anything from those guys online unless its through a prepaid card.
I've never got one of these calls ever, so to suggest it was anything but the PSN attacks is beyond ridiculous.
Do you live outside the US Weltall? Pretty sure you post in the MVC thread so I assume no.
Mmm, got on and it turns out the CC linked to my PSN is my pre-paid card I use for FFXI and not my Debit linked to my bank, YAY!
I smell shenanigans for some reason @ the whole cc theft. Not calling you a liar, welt or an asshole.
I'm an asshole, but I am not a liar. lol
I'm also a Sony > Microsoft fan.
This whole thing is making me irritated as I don't know what system I want games for anymore
Oh also regarding the whole 360 thing how do you know if you are eligible for a new one? That article says its because of a prior update but people say the update hasn't come out yet and is still in the beta?
The fact that they keep saying 77 million people use PSN is making me laugh.
My understanding was that Microsoft could determine which consoles (via their connection to Live) would have the problem and would be contacting people themselves. I was also under the impression that the new update was rolling out now, slowly, over the next few weeks. Beta for it is now over.
