I'm sure they'll be fine even with their guard down. Considering they're in the top five highest "secured" companies in the world. Sony isn't even in the top 1000.

Microsoft has already been riding this bull for years now in the security breach department. They have the people, along with the infrastructure in house to hold their boat afloat.

Sony doesn't, and being completely non-biased. They probably never will.

I certainly don't agree with their actions but you have to understand that so many people with at least decent knowledge in a certain field, trying to accomplish a common goal most likely won't get stopped until they get bored.
