IC, glad to hear you are okay and your house was spared. Gotta have you back for college football season after all. Stay safe bud.

Supposed to have Internet at the house by June 1st. Apparently they encountered a problem at 'central' or a central problem. We've had multiple debris pick-up trucks in our neighborhood since last Tuesday. They're working on our street again so it's a bitch to get out right now. I really wish I took pictures of how it looked after the tornado hit here, trees down, power lines down everywhere. It looked like a bomb went off.
Hopefully comcast will get threw here eventually too because watching tv off an antenna sucks, and we can hardly get any channels. Thank god I was able to watch the last 2 episodes of Fringe with it. First time I've ever missed a South Park season premiere, last two Justified, Adventure Time, Regular Show, and SuperJail episodes. Lot of catching up to do once it's restored. Shit I even bought Witcher 2 yesterday but it has that shitty 'one time only internet activation' drm in it, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.
Trying to have some normal stuff going on since we got power back exactly one week after the tornado. Georgia power restored ours on our street. Forgot to mention that Friday morning I got to see Obama's convoy ride by my street when he was going through Cresent Ridge.
Not much to say right now. I'm personally still in shock this happened here. And now Mississippi is dealing with flooding. If this happened next year some people would be yelling 'the end of days!' :<
Like before I dunno when I'll come back to this mcdonalds to read this again. Hopefully when I do, I will have internet back at the house.
Oh hey miss this thread for awhile and IC pops up! Glad you are OK dude. was some scary shit around here. Good luck with Comcast t-town branch. Well the techs are awesome, but dealing with anyone in the office ughhhhh
Guess i need start browsing general again didn't even know about this thread. Gonna leave these right here...
Spoiler: show
Poor girlfriends car got slammed lol
Joplin MO hit by tornado, hit a hospital killing 30+ just there.
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/24/us/24tornado.html
already up to 90 deaths...there is going to be a huge number more before the end of the week.
Joplin isn't too far from where I live. A couple friends of mine went to college there, and having been there a few times I know that a town that size can't handle a catastrophe of that magnitude. If anyone knows emergency workers or first responders in the area, please let them know they need to get there and help.
I meant in your local area, my bad.
A lot of counties have a mutual aid agreement for situations like this, but still more help will be needed. My boss is a volunteer firefighter too, and part of his crew went down on Missouri's Task Force One, but his department very well might send another team down there (fyi we're about 3.5 hrs from there if that tells you anything about the high need for trained search/rescue and medical units)
Looks like most of the areas that got ravaged by the first round of storms are going to get a second serving tomorrow, here included
They say that individual storm cells may be even stronger due to the warmer atmosphere.
This is of course according to Weather Channel's Bullshit-o-meter, so chances are nothing will happen at all.
So I just checked the weather channel, and they have this tiny circle area where there is a super-omg-high-tornado risk. Basically, it covers the area right where KY, IN, and IL meet. I just so happens I live where KY, IN, and IL all meet.
As of right now, NOAA has predicted 4 other "High Risk" weather events this spring. My area will make the fifth today. The other four events were the following:
April 16: 69 tornados
April 26: 56 tornados
April 27: 252 tornados
May 24: 47 tornados
Yes, it is going to be a rough afternoon there for sure. Stay safe and keep a weather radio nearby!
I live just to the northwest of the highest risk area, but they have already issued a tornado watch here. It has been a long time since a tornado has touched down in Columbia, just hoping that streak holds.
Gonna keep my cell phone on the charger, so if the power goes, I'll have a full charge. Gonna grab some batteries and shit too.
I live in Henderson, KY. If you hear of Henderson, KY or Evansville, IN getting wrecked, that's my area. Think there's some other members from the area as well. TacoTaru is from Evansville, Recuperi is from Henderson.
Memphis TN also falls into the high risk zone, so you probably have a few members from there as well.
no one make a thread when tyche disappears
Stay safe, Tyche. Be sure to keep in touch with guys you know in the danger zones and you can call/check on, like recup.
Lot of tornado damage west of here, moving into the area pretty soon
This spring sure has been a ride..
edit: incase you can't read my location over to the left, I live in Memphis
