Soooo when does Colbert start the late show again?
Decided to watch @midnight cause I was up. Shit is hilarious
Final show was fantastic. Really well put together with just enough sentimentality.
I was on the fence about Trevor Noah. Besides his whole twitter debacle when he was announced as the new host and having seen him on an older episode of QI, I had no idea who he was. But then I saw him on Jerry Seinfeld's "Comedians in Cars getting Coffee". And I gotta say, I'm more than willing to give him a shot

Guy sounds like a workhorse. Putting in the time, the work, the effort and really paying his dues. 4 days in a row working on comedy in NY followed by a flight to London where he does another 3 days and then flies back and forth and back and forth again and etc for a month. Getting up at 6pm, working on his comedy all night, going to bed at 10am and doing that shit constantly. He may not have the celebrity or the fame, but I'm willing to give him a shot after learning about his work ethic.
Also, he wasn't even the first choice. Him being hired wasn't a slap to the face of anyone considering they asked a plethora of people before him and they all passed.
It's not so much about the persona that he will be bringing in, its how the format of the show will change. Of course its too soon to tell, but from what I Can tell, I don't think I'll really care too much where it is going.
Well there's the unconfirmed rumors that it'll be more like Tosh.0/The Soup and less about politics
Really? Hope that's not true.. I was under the impression that they were going to keep the same format. The Nightly Show is a great example of how The Daily Show's Format works so well -- in the early weeks, they did a lot more with the guests and roundtable, but around when I stopped watching, it seemed they were backing off that a bit to more resemble The Daily Show.
If they do anything remotely close to Daniel Tosh it will be the biggest fail since Charlie Sheen and his comedy special.
Think I've said this before when quoting you, but yeah, Nightly Show worked great at first, and then they started fucking with the formula and it started going downhill. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was "Hey guys, let's discuss if Tsarnaev should get the death penalty, and by the way, the correct answer is YES". I mean, who gives a shit about discourse right? Totally wasn't surprised when the anti-DP guest just got up and left after the first commercial break. I noticed that Shenaz Treasury left the show, one assumes because she got to go work on Brown Nation, but even so, she seemed a bit more credible than Ricky Velez. Ricky's more geared for skits, which are being shoehorned into the show and aren't really needed IMHO.

For anyone who missed this bit.
Yea the Nightly Show is still kind of......not working.
The panels were a fine idea but you'd need the entire time slot at the very least to have any real conversation going.
It's like they tried to copy Bill Maher's show formula but shrink it down to 30m with commercials and still cram in the monologue, scripted bits, and the panel, and you just can't.
Then they just seemed to cut the panels down to just being 2 of the show's people plus 1 guest and pad it with jokes.
Time to petition hbo to make Oliver nightly.
I had forgotten the new shows started this week.

Thought the first episode was pretty good, I'm hopeful.
