This thread got way derailed n read thru most pages here , First off it was never about omg epeen pld beats all hands down. Get that outta your head. The videos shown were to show ochains power n what it really is. the simple fact of the TP gain , dmg reduction and basis that it is a decent cleave burner. I have been in many and there are up sides and down sides to both. *most* warriors fell cleaveing cant handle that much due to simple math 15 mobs all hit at once for meh 75 each hit give er take , gives n avg of 1200 dmg every few seconds , which to an avg run of the mill whm , hard to keep up with sometimes, and have to really gauge for a pull. for a pld to do the same takeing WAY less dmg i fail to see how this is not better for cleave burning truely, I myself have monk n several other jobs leveled and know both sides of the coin.
to many of the posters thinking this is a thread where were saying oh pld replaces mnk , nin ect no get that outta your head as well. MNK is still great at pure raw dmg (vsmite proper atmas) so is nin at eva tanking , all of them have purposes theyre great for. each job has its strength n weaknesses , also pld can do 9/13 procs for red , where as mnk can do exactly what 2 - 3 ? it makes up for that in dmg , nin makes up for it in evasion ect ect its like compareing a blm to a samurai , you cant each job is differant and has its own makeup and look at what it really is , low dmg taken , lots of blocks n what the job IS and used to be n where its come from, as far as getting ochain - congrats n wonderful show of its useage.

Solution: Bring ANOTHER WAR and fell cleave faster. MNK can have close to 4k HP in abyssea withOUT using any HP atma. Give your MNK the cata WS and help aoe kill mobs with the WAR.

NIN can evasion tank was your argument on NIN bs PLD. NIN can proc almost every WS for red too, they can also evasion tank, blink tank, and even survive ridiculous damaging attacks like a blood tank thanks to migiwari.

I think PLD will be useful on new content outside of abyssea that requires an AEGIS not the ochain.... but that is yet to be seen as of now. PLD is useless right now at this moment.

NIN is back to being the better tank currently. They can blink tank, evasion tank, migiwari and enfeeble, 25% movement speed for kited solo fights (if any) and can unweak themselves if they die in a jam with mijin. Most importantly they dish out nasty damage now which PLD doesn't do so well without almace.

If they ever release a mob like PW again where the "PW" is super Magic heavy and the pets ( 8 pets) are super melee heavy. I can see an aegis PLD and an ochain PLD being the stars of the show. There is still updates in the game.... PLD sucks ok??? relax, that might change soon.

There was some reports already of some Hydra MNK NM having 100% acc on NIN and THF in evasion set. I wouldn't be surprised if most of them having more then 60%acc on best evasion NIN set which combined with 300-500 per hit is pretty much devastating. On top of that PLD get tons of TP while MNK 2hr and will be for sure better DD. Seriously stop this already. When I'm saying PLD is best tank on some fights like high def/att/acc MNK with multi 2hr I'm not trying to say that PLD is best tank in game or even it's not possible to make it on other job. Idk why ppl are so butthurt when I find those few situation out of hundreds when PLD is optimal. I'm not trying to advertise PLD as tank for everything but as optimal tank for few situations and when my Kannagi and Veret is more busy, my Almace+Ochain definitely not going to rust in storage. Some ppl here act like fanboys of XBOX or PS3 but in reference to jobs.

Hmmm, reading this thread just gave me an idea...

Atma of the savior, with it's absorb damage.

If you were on RDM and you put up pro/phalanx, mandies hit you for 0 dmg. BUT... when the absorb the damage procs it is taken before phalanx is factored in, maybe even before protect is factored in. Your log would look something like this:

xxx takes 0 dmg
xxx takes 0 dmg
xxx takes 0 dmg
xxx takes 0 dmg
xxx absorbs 44hp
xxx takes 0 dmg
xxx takes 0 dmg
xxx absorbs 44hp
etc

When testing it out, I started off with 100 HP > went to 2,300hp in about 30 seconds. Now I'm interested in testing it while fighting a NM lol....

W/o shield block from Ochain you will need low level mnk type mobs to achieve 0 damage I think so you will be a little limited on NMs.
