Nah not D3. Whatever next-gen MMO they are working on.
Yeah, it's a fps mmo, so it might not have much of a shot with the rpg crowd. (not really interested in it myself)
My issue with TERA is how it's going to be handled here. I have no desire to sink time into an MMO that receives updates 6 months later here, along with little or no dev feedback. Perhaps i'm wrong and things will be handled differently, but even the interesting combat won't get me to purchase if the before mentioned issues are not handled properly.
And yes, the new Blizzard MMO is supposed to be some kind of fps MMO which i have no interest in at all.
Kinda OT but I agree with you guys, especially Lucavi, oh so much.
It's kinda ridiculous no one took what made MMOs fun in the first place (do stuff with a party of friends/players instead of computer controlled NPC) to build the game around it.
It seems instead that what defines MMOs for developers is "do linear stuff which takes an absurd long amount of time to complete".
If we want to go by past evidence, things are looking good. When XI was doing well, SE's efforts to deliver were rather lackluster. When there was a crisis, they did what was necessary. When WoW took a huge chunk of the playerbase back in '05-'06 they followed with ToAU, which ultimately took the game to the direction it needed to go. Later they had to deal with a threat of their own (XIV) and I don't think there is much to complain about the results (Abyssea).
By no means is this a praise, for it is dumb to wait until a crisis happens before they do what they have to do. But ultimately they have shown that they can manage to do what is needed when under a threat, so far at least.
No update / patch from TERA can be at the same time as their Korean counterpart. That's holding content back for Korean users when its generated / programmed for there first. But I doubt NA/EU will be "that" far behind. Most likely 1-3 months at max. which really isn't that bad since we will be getting the game w/ all the new content they are adding to the Korean versions during the summer. Our release client should be current to Korean retail, but patches after that would most likely have a small delay
Everyone smart agrees with me, when I'm not trolling or fishing. You do well, sir.
@Hyan: I'm following your logic. I cannot deny that WoTG was a huge right hook after the somewhat soft jab that was CoP in terms of player satisfaction. While there were clearly problems (and really, what game doesn't have them?), they took some big risks (lookin' at YOU, Besieged) that paid off in the long run and made for some great memories.
I just worry about how the "real" world is going to handle SE from now on. SE has dropped the ball quite a few times in the last few years, and while we know the legions of fanboys aren't going anywhere, there's been a lot of people that have stepped away from them and aren't really going to go back unless they know that things will be fun and... honestly? Non-Japanese. I think a lot of people are just tired of the old Japanese style of "slow; traditional; always" with these types of games.
We'll see.
