Fail on my part, saw some gimps fighting orthrus at 75%, instinctively go to get a brew but they wiped and it depopped before I got back to them. Fail at me not having brew on me already.

Not sure what all the Orthrus fail is about recently, unless this has been constantly happening lol. After getting done with our set saturday, this shout group that was forming arrives, 1 of them being a BLU who left my static cause he liked this new girl who I kicked for being a bitch, and then she leaves the social he went to for her cause she has a BF + likes another guy in a different LS(random fail in itself there), and everyone but the BRD dies and they end up needing 2 brews to kill it since the first got para'd supposedly(I was running back from the flux and only saw the 2nd one get popped).

Even if the people in my party were mistaken on a first brew being popped and para'd, not sure how an Ukon WAR with a WHM and BRD in the party actually dies to Orthrus, can put up Carol 2 and that pretty much negates all the major threats for that fight. That and Retaliation is ridiculous. Might be worth it to just camp a shitload of TE and afk near Orthrus next weekend, waiting for shitty groups to wipe.

Went on abit more after that but that seemed to be the only good part worth posting. Apparently MNK sucks and NIN takes skill, I wish I knew.

The guys seems retarded, but his points aren't really wrong. NIN tanking takes more skill than MNK tanking (not that much more, but more nonetheless), and just look at the voidwatch thread, it's practically filled with "DD NIN tank sucks now, you need 7 ochain+aegis PLDs to kill any NM" mentality.

It does? I am honestly having a hard time quantifying this. Though one can more easily accomplish things as a MNK without skill, I would not say it requires more skill to play NIN over MNK.

I suppose casting ninjutsu does require one to press more buttons (as in most situations, a MNK would be /WAR and therefore not need to cast Utsusemi themselves), but I do not see this as being more "skillful," per se.

EDIT: Then again, I am one of those who believes "skill" in FFXI is basically determined by one's knowledge of the game, for in the most basic functionality, every job is the same (utilizing menus/commands, et cetera). Timing is important in, say, casting ninjutsu, or any other form of magic, but this once again relies on one's familiarity with the game (example: knowing how far away one can be from an oncoming enemy while managing to Sleep it in time). A job's usefulness is a different beast.
